Nicola Sturgeon & Page 3

These will be same people banging on about freedom of expression

Definitely, I saw someone share that broken pencil picture that was doing the round, it came from the group 'No to page 3'

Staggering lack of awareness.

I'd also bet the majority of people complaining about page 3 don't even read the sun. Still, if it hurts the sun's sales figures then good. Horrible paper.

You're right it's a strange anomaly that most people people aren't bothered about the Sun's right to bare tits, but at the same time, would do a small jig in the streets if they ever went down the pan.

Shocking to think that only 30 odd years ago, The Sun was priding itself on showing pics of 16 year olds baring their breasts.

Hacker: Don't tell me about the press. I know exactly who reads the papers: The Daily Mirror is read by people who think they run the country; The Guardian is read by people who think they ought to run the country; The Times is read by the people who actually do run the country; The Daily Mail is read by the wives of the people who run the country; The Financial Times is read by people who own the country; The Morning Star is read by people who think the country ought to be run by another country; And The Daily Telegraph is read by people who think it is.

Sir Humphrey: Oh and Prime Minister, what about the people who read The Sun?

Bernard: Sun readers don't care who runs the country, as long as she's got big tits.

Some good tweets doing the rounds from the lovely Rhian Sugden (27):

It's only a matter of time before everything we do will be dictated by comfy shoe wearing... No bra wearing... man haters #page3

Well done ladies, you've campaigned us all the way back to 1955. What a sad day for feminism... #page3

ETA: Doesn't seem right though to read her opinions without a picture to the left of them of her standing in her pants...

Just had a read through that. Some birds are annoying as f**k. Total double standards.

I mind getting a lecture off my ex about how strippers etc were disgusting and degrading to women etc etc etc only for me to point out that she had the movie Magic Mike on her shelf and her friends Henny had a male stripper at it. Supposedly it's different because women are seen as sex objects and men aren't. WTF.

Too many chips on shoulders.

I remember some years back one of the papers (Sun or Sport, can't remember which) doing a countdown. If memory serves it was to Lindsay Dawn McKenzie's 16th birthday when she would "finally" be topless after months of appearing (age 15) in skimpy gear.

This must have been in the 90s.

I particularly enjoyed the "...yes and I believe that a woman won the world goal of the year competition so that just goes to show you. And thats coming from someone who isnt even a football fan."

The mind boggles.

That quote put the tin lid on the whole interview, it was her insistence that children were exposed to this sort of thing as if they had their eyes opened a la Clockwork Orange and were forced to view soft porn that initially pissed me off.
