Guest
Thinking of moving somewhere else in Scotland, probably near Edinburgh. My knowledge of that region is poor, however. Where should I go?

throbber
I have heard Livingston is a bit of a dump as a place on the outskirts of the city Musselburgh is pretty decent as is Balerno and South and North Queensferry for places outwith the city itself Winchburgh and Kirkliston meant to be alright from what I've heard and decent cheap housing

ICTChris
What sort of place are you looking for? If you are looking to rent somewhere close to town with good local amenities (boozers, shops, social) then Leith is excellent. There are some very nice flats there, although they are expensive if you are buying. Balerno is nice but it's expensive. Currie is also good. I live near there and it's a good area. There are lots of new houses being built in Kirkliston and Winchburgh - there was a story in one of the papers about the massive difference in price for identical houses in Winchburgh and Linlithgow. My wife is from Kirkie and to be absolutely honest I wouldn't want to live there - it's a bit out of the way.
