How am I supposed to know? All I can comment on is what I would like to see us do, sadly I don't exert any influence over what the PLP do.

I would have thought that a party would have well known positions on these issues. Of course the fact that Labour are imploding at the moment does make it difficult for party members to know what they actually stand for....

This is the sort of weak willed ambivalence that's contributed to the utter mess that is the Labour party.

Can you manage a post in a politics thread without having an anti-feminist tirade? Give it a rest.

Aye, plenty  Back on relevant topic considering: a) Corbyn is a candidate; b) he's outlined certain policy that I wasn't aware wasn't allowed to be discussed...

Can you, jmo or the other up/downvoters back up your thinking re: support of Corbyn's outline, without running away or restoring to ad hominem? On what basis do you support his outlined policies, it's a pretty fundamental question regardless of the policy.

This is the sort of weak willed ambivalence that's contributed to the utter mess that is the Labour party.

JMO is happy to spout off about how much he is ideologically opposed to the Tories but he'll only ever mention a few things like fox hunting or being nasty to unions/immigrants. A lot of which is nothing fundamentally to do with being left or right wing. There's a deathly silence whenever he's asked in any kind of detail what a 'centrist' Labour Party could or would offer that's 'right' enough to win an election but 'left' enough' to offer an actual alternative to the Tories. Which is all the Blairites ever talk about but strangely dry up when asked about it beyond an inane series of platitudes, you might get an "aspiration" or "trusted with the economy" if you're lucky.

He doesn't know and doesn't really care. He's a right winger who wants Labour to win because they're his team. He might even believe there's clear water between the Tories and where he wants Labour to be. Maybe actually talking about it would shatter the illusion.

Excellent piece. Maybe if that was the standard people aspired to share online we'd have a few more actually thinking about what the political class is doing to preserve their own bubble at the expense of the people they should be serving.

Exactly.

Take someone like the 'socialist' Lord Reid... parading about in his gowns. It really is utterly pathetic

Corbyn wont win.

He wont be allowed to. The people pulling the strings above will ensure his ratings take a nose dive.

With little over a week to go? While he's drawing in bigger crowds literally every night?

I'm actually prepared to believe this is going to be a massacre now.

Is it not mid September the announcement?

I don't think papers go out until next Friday, if I remember.

Ah, yes. It's the deadline for registration that's coming up. Still, does anyone actually doubt that he is the Only Show In Town at this point?

It's increasingly becoming the case. And it's about time that the jokers who want a "centrist" Labour realise that:

a) There is an appetite out there for genuine left wing politics

and

b) A Labour run by Kendall, Cooper or Burnham would have zero chance of election in 2020.

I see he's doing a Thing in Embra next Friday. Tempted to ask for the afternoon off to attend, if only to see what the crowd is made up of. It surely can't be SLabbers.

Say hiya to Duncan Hotdogstall for me.

Who am I kidding, he won't be there.

Maybe it's to pay a visit to the overgrown baby that is Scotland's only Labour MP.

Yep, still funny.

The funny thing about Scottish Labour folk slagging off Corbyn is that if he wins, the Slab subbuteo politicians will be parroting every word he says overnight.

Since the Scottish branch don't have the balls to become independent from London, they'll have no choice but to stand at the next GE under his policies
