League set up 2015

Recommended Posts

Good post fear no foe. another down fall of eos and lowland sides is that most of the teams don't have social clubs to generate revenue like nitten and bonnyrigg.

I could be wrong but think Bonnyrigg social club and Bonnyrigg rose fc are no longer associated with one another ?

Easthouses did they receive a huge help from the council for their improvements ?

Easthouses Lily will be a great addition to the South Division and I for one am looking forward to them joining. It appears that Kirkcaldy YM will also move over from the North Division to even up the numbers to 14 clubs. There is room for another couple of clubs should any EoSFL club fancy it.

As Ruby Murray says, the attraction of the Scottish Junior Cup, East of Scotland Cup and the Fife & Lothians Cup, plus the fact the leagues are pretty competitive and on the whole provide better facilities than the EoS, it makes for an attractive proposition for clubs who can’t or won’t be going for a Licence. I’d be surprised if over the next few seasons we don’t see at least one other club make the move. The standard of EoS Premier is no better that the South Division from what I’ve seen.

I’m not sure where the “greed and money hunters” comment from the tin man comes from, it is a semi-professional league after all, not amateur. Yes there are clubs who chuck money at it (like Tranent currently who have a financial backer with deep pockets it seems), but most others like ourselves pay little more than expenses and we have a youth system in place. Also his jibe about enjoying trips to Harthill and West Calder, have you actually ever been to West Calder’s ground? It’s new and better than almost anything to be found in the EoS, Harthill is a little tired at the corners but they have good changing facilities and a decent sized bar.

I’d like to see the EoS and the East Region Juniors merge eventually, or at least the Juniors take on board those clubs who have a compliant ground but have no appetite for Licences and LL football. The Pyramid is a busted flush in the Lowlands, I can’t see the EoS ever being strong enough to feed regularly into the LL.

given the number of teams 16

vote split 8 all

1 league was the only option ,

good luck to all teams for the coming season ,

with east houses gone ( wont be missed and before they start they won nothing ! )

Leith losing players only promoting youngsters

civil will be stronger as signed players prior to being knocked back for the lowland so will be going all out to win the league

Tyne castle cant get any worse surely so will improve

but

I predict lthv despite losing players will win the league with ease

Taking away the two reserve sides, and looking at the Non League Scotland website for those grounds I’ve not been to, this is who I think already have the facilities to join the Juniors.

Burntisland - Yes

Civil SS - Yes

Coldstream - Yes

Duns - Yes

LTHV - Yes

Hawick RA - Yes

Heriot Watt - Yes

Ormiston - Yes

Tynecastle – Yes (at Saughton)

Craigroyston - Not sure (enclosed?)

Eyemouth Utd – Not sure (enclosed?)

Leith Ath - Not sure (changing facilities near pitch?)

Kelso Utd – No (not enclosed)

Peebles - No (no enclosed)

The whole money thing is bang on a player is willing to play in eos for expenses but a player going to eos to junior first thing he says is what's money like saw it loads of times boys leaving clubs to go to Dunbar or Tranent for 200-350 signing fee plus expenses.

Maybe that says more about what EoS players think the Juniors is about these days at our level. There are few clubs in the South Division who will pay their squad signing-on fees like that, it’s not the land of milk and honey. Tranent are probably paying that (and more) this season as they have someone pumping money into the club, but I doubt anyone else is.

As for the whole thing being "bang on" have you ever been to West Calder?

The average budget for a super league team must be massive probably bigger than division 2 and 3 clubs. How can easthouses compete with musselburgh and newtongrange even dalkeith. Good luck to them mind but it's a far easier journey into the pyramid than it is into super league imo

Clubs compete in the South without throwing sacks of money at it, and I doubt you’ll get anyone switching to the EoS because let’s face it, if they can’t compete financially in a league where most teams pay little more than expenses, they’re not going to have the cash to obtain a licence.

U never know burnieman might be a junior team in south sick of not competing financially on n off the park make switch to eos for access to big Scottish and lowland league

Well it wasn’t so long ago that Dalkeith were a struggling club in the bottom rung. Why would Easthouses want to compete financially with Nitten or Musselburgh? There’s three divisions to move up and down in, and clubs set their own standards, goals and budgets. Money isn’t the be all and end all, good managers and players are and not every player goes to a club purely for money and not every club that’s promoted is because they are chucking money at it.

I can’t comment on whether Easthouses ever want to go into the Lowland League, looks like they don’t and see their future in the Junior’s. I can’t blame them. I don’t think they’ll be the last.

Am a eos man your a juniors man there's pros n cons of both associations like juniors fixtures schedules n eos lack of investment and not attracting new teams. So let's agree that every one should go in the pyramid like they do down south and have a evo-stik equivalent

Absolutely. It's sad that the "Pyramid" is a busted flush but it's been discussed ad infitum.

I'd like EoS and ERJFA to merge, but with licencing, Lowland League etc it's probably never going to happen.
