The Greenock Morton Thread - It's Better Than Yours

Recommended Posts

You wonder if someone has heard a rumour about a morton striker leaving and just guessed at Gary oliver and guessed at all the clubs that might be interested. It really doesn't make any sense.

If we use the 100k then this is great value, sadly that seems rather optimistic

What is Mortons valuation of him?

I reckon we'd accept something between £150k - £200k for him. We're quite rightly telling them to up their offer or they won't get him. He's nowhere near the finished article but he's got bags of potential.

He's not worth a huge amount in terms of actual "market value" - but given that we'd have very little time or options to replace Quitongo, our valuation needs to be much higher than that right now. £100k is a couple of league places in prize money and nothing compared to the loss caused by the very worst case of returning to the seaside leagues. Those are potential costs that the club needs to take into account today, that wouldn't be on the table for a transfer bid in May.

From a fans point of view, is it worth selling?  Obviously for the club to get between £100k-£200k in would be great, but would it be re-invested?

The problem is that by dragging it out we lose valuable time. If he goes right before the deadline for 200k that's great business but we'd be fucked unless we already had someone lined up

The transfer window doesn't exactly mean much at our level does it though? Players rarely move for fee's.
