Yet another US shooting

I did........and found this helpful info :-

"This where you shoot yourself in the leg while practicing your fast draw or as you sit down you manage to position your rolls of fat in such a way that you manage to disengage the trigger safety while at the same time squishing the hair trigger you had installed in case you get into a firefight at the mall resulting in a leg shot.

Leg shot if you’re lucky - groin shot if you’re not."

Honestly, between the constantly shooting each other, the diet, and the shooting themselves in the cock, I’m kinda happy the US doesn’t have single payer healthcare, the tax rate would be 99% to cover it.

It’s actually a pretty serious problem with the police departments. Since the only “safety” a Glock has is the little lever in the trigger, poor finger discipline during the draw or holster phase has caused many a “negligent discharge”…which is crap, it’s not negligent, it’s f**king stupidity!

Unfortunately they all do. The low occurrence areas have two positives…few people and a widespread hunting culture. Kids taught gun safety from a young age aren’t as likely to do stupid s**t like point guns, loaded or not, at each other. Of course, this study is more a judgement of adult/teen gun handling, as the weapon had to be left accessible to the 1-3 year-olds.

There’s a conundrum in carrying guns, which is that a semi-automatic needs to be carried with a round in the chamber for best protection, but by that token is also more dangerous to the owner. Too many guns are offered with inadequate safeties, Glocks being the gold standard for this (search “Glock Leg”). On the other hand, manual safeties can also cause a delay in use, and that’s why they’ve become unpopular. With a. It of practice, a manual safety can be disengaged during the draw, but that takes practice…something too many gun carriers fail to perform.

In the end, most kids are shot due to lazy, uncaring, incompetent or stupid adults/teens. The U.S. gun culture will persist until the demographics turn against it, and even then it will be a long road.

I hear you, but I feel you are normalising the idiocy of 'Mericans, and their gun culture.

The last 10 years, the US (in my head anyway) is a place I have always enjoyed, and looked forward to, visiting, to one which, quite frankly, it wouldn't bother me one iota if I never set foot in the place ever again.

The gun fetish in ‘Merica is strong…it IS normal here…that’s not normalizing it.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/dec/05/mass-shootings-record-year

"A series of murders over the weekend have propelled the United States to a grisly new record: the most recorded mass shootings in a year.

Two attacks on Sunday occurring within a couple of hours of each other in Texas and Washington state were the year’s 37th and 38th mass shootings. Authorities believe a murder-suicide was responsible for the death of five family members in Vancouver, a suburb of Portland, Oregon, just across the border in Washington, while in Dallas a 21-year-old with a previous aggravated assault charge shot five people in a house, including a toddler.

It is the highest number of mass shootings in any year since at least 2006, breaking the previous record of 36, reached last year."

Not it sure exactly how bad this is yet, hopefully not as serious as some reports suggest.

I used to react like this too, but I came to the conclusion that as far too many Americans seem pretty relaxed about lives being brutally taken on a daily basis then why should I bother ?  There is a moral, intellectual and humanitarian malaise across the nation with seemingly no end in sight.  Guns and lunacy are a toxic combination.

The problem is it isn’t common enough yet to impact enough people. Unfortunately, or fortunately, it seems to be trending toward that point.

It would seem he was that upset that the University of Las Vegas wouldn't hire him he decided to seek retribution. Definitely odd, but must have made sense to him.

Quote

My immediate reaction was it had to be Tony Polito. I didn’t say that because I thought he was capable of anything like that. I didn’t say that because I thought that’s the kind of person that he was. I said that because my entire time in his class — he was obsessed with Las Vegas. I think he went at the end of every semester, so at least twice a year. He would talk about all the hotels that he stayed in. All the restaurants that he would go to. All the clubs and shopping places that he would go to. Maybe some friends that he had made, people he went to visit when he was out there. That was the class, if you can imagine a college class where you just relive someone’s vacation, like, that was kind of his class. It was all we talked about from the start of the class to the end of it.

End 'culture of hatred', says mother of boy shot in US https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-67694134

Minor issue with the story as the guy was 23, but shot by a 15 year-old, so they shoehorned it into a kids killing kids format.

Mass shooter at Charles University in Prague takes out 10 students.

Mass shootings in European capital cities for this pish etc etc.

The shooter was a Czech national, killed his father earlier in Kladno, before heading to the University and setting up a self loading rifle on a balcony.

Czech's have very little filter when it comes to posting on social media so some of the stuff online is horrific.

A lot of weirdos making out it was an attack on a Jewish school.
