So, what you're saying is...

The sister needed an AK?

No, no, no need to go as far as that. Just instal computer/radar/motion sensor controlled automatic machine guns in the younger sibling's bedroom to provide protection.  Anything else is just an abdication of responsibility on the parents' part.

Of course if the incident took place elsewhere just assign an AI/Terminator type guardian to guard everyone.

Still doesn't seem quite enough. Need a few metal detectors, and of course a prayer room, just to make sure.

The prayer room is a must, obviously.  Maybe a shrine to various gods too, just on the off chance that one of the other circa 18,000 gods is the "real" one. As well to cover the bases IMO.

Indeed; Cover all bases, pray to every god. Except the Muslim one. Or the Hindu one. Or the Buddhist one. Or the Orthodox one. Or the Jewish one. Or the Ancient Greek ones. Or the Roman ones. Or the Pagan ones. Or the Norse ones.

Just the freedom-lovin' American one.

Surely can't be far off seeing an advert in a gun magazine claiming "this is the high powered rifle Jesus would have...."

Wait now, this is ‘Merica, founded as a Christian County (ignore what the Founders really said, this is what they meant), and we don’t want that ungodly stuff round here! You take that heathen stuff and get out…just like all those people that don’t speak the native language here…you speaking that Navajo and Cree and other foreign crap instead of English need to leave and go back to where you came from! Wait, what do you mean they were here first, that doesn’t matter…we stole this land from them fair and square.

Close enough.

First time I've ever seen anyone refer to the Romans as "his government" with the modern meaning.

Too late, almost…

Yes, that was a real tweet. And there are plenty of other examples of using the Bible, especially Luke 22:36, to sell guns.

Obviously don't need a thought room, as none of these gun freaks has a brain.

Jesus guns babies ? Seems a bit of an easy task.

Maybe the tooled-up Pharisees were a bit too formidable for the Son of God.

Throw the word "down" in there and it's a bit more realistic.

Surely even in the US the parents are going to face a long stretch for that? Utter scum. Two lives ruined.

Nope, maximum of three years. In California, “First-Degree Criminal Storage of Firearms”:

“The child obtained the gun and killed or seriously injured him or herself or another person. This first-degree crime is a wobbler, meaning the prosecutor can charge it as a misdemeanor or felony. The misdemeanor subjects an offender to up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine. A felony conviction carries a potential punishment ranging from 16 months to three years' incarceration and a $10,000 fine.”
