Lex
Federer on court now for the last time ever in this Laver Cup circus, playing doubles with Nadal.Murray just lost to De Minaur in the singles but Europe won the two afternoon matches so it’s 2-1 to team europe so far.
TheScarf
Team World with a dominating final day winning all 3 matches to take the win for the first time by 13 to 8. I watched some of it yesterday and the North American guys were just hitting through the Europeans. FAA was toying with Djokovic at times.

Loki
That’s a nothing story - that’s just electrolyte powders being mixed. Depending on the players physicality different ones will be prepared before consumption. Andy Murray also has this done particularly when he was cramping in the North American swing. It does look pretty dodgy though. A few extra urine tests on the players would at least give the illusion that the ATP takes it seriously.
Loki
Holger Rune became the first person in Masters History to beat five Top 10 players to claim victory. The other person he best was Stan Wawrinka, that’s a well deserved first Masters. It was only the fifth time Novak has lost a final from being a set up. Rune will be top 10 from Monday. Alcaraz has pulled out of the ATP finals, so Rune may be an alternative for that if there is another pull out.
Lex
I mean if there was something dodgy going on, do you think he would have the magic drink mixed in full view of officials, a crowd of thousands and dozens cameras? It’s common practice with all the pros to have weird vitamin drinks made up like this.

Why do they ask the guy to turn his body and block anyone viewing this completely legal weird vitamin drink being mixed?

As different mixes give different results. If I know Djokovic needs to take an electrolyte mix to aid cramping 45 minutes in, I’m going to elongate the rallies so he cramps sooner. Even if it was dodgy, they’d all get away with it, due to the lack of testing. By the time WADA has caught up by banning substances the players move on to something else. Unless you forget to read your emails like Sharapova.
Loki
Actually Simona Halep was caught very recently so maybe they are testing more often these days.

There's surely better ways to disguise what mix of stuff you're using than you're entire team looking like they are racking out lines of cocaine in alleyway.
TheGreenElves
Impressive performance from team GB in the Billie Jean King Cup. Wasn't expecting us to have a chance, but winning both singles matches and the doubles against Spain means we are through to the semi finals. Still don't expect us to win it, but we are doing better than expected

JR74
Made the last minute decision to nip along to Friday's ties. Really excellent value for £10 tickets. Caught the doubles of Canada v Switzerland and then USA v Czech. First set of Gauff's match in particular was a great watch.Wasn't a particularly big crowd, but hopefully more tickets sold for the semis/final over the weekend and some decent matches too.
Donathan
I just realised that Wimbledon this coming summer will be the ten year anniversary of Murray’s first title there. I wonder if that might be a fitting time to call it a career.
GaryMc93
Tough 1st round draws for Murray and a couple of the Brits. With the form he's in be interesting to see how much trouble Draper can cause. Andy Murray vs Matteo Berrettini Jack Draper vs Rafael Nadal Kyle Edmund vs Jannik Sinner

Andy Murray vs Matteo Berrettini Jack Draper vs Rafael Nadal Kyle Edmund vs Jannik Sinner I think Draper has the best chance of the three. He’s a cracking young player and has got top ten potential IMO. Nadal also looks like he could be finished, but been thinking that for years tbf. Got to feel a bit sorry for Murray drawing Berrettini for the second slam in a row. The Italian dealt with him fairly easily in New York in September, hard to see how anything different happens this time around. I can see Sinner winning a slam this year, Edmund won’t cause him any problems. Edited January 13, 2023 by Lex
Lex
First day of the Aus open done then, and no major shocks. Nadal beat Draper in four, Sinner beat Edmund in three, but Cam Norrie is through with a straight sets win, he will play Lestienne in round two. Andy Murray plays Berrettini in the early hours of tomorrow morning GMT.
