Could be worse the RoI does that every day on RTE at 6 pm for the Angelus prayer. Think folk have become increasingly mental about Remembrance day in recent years because the soldiers who actually went through WWI and WWII are no longer around to tell them to get a grip and show some proper decorum.

Yep, there is a good bit of truth in that. Because a lot of people are no longer connected to these events then they just make it another fun time event on the calendar.

Mehran Karimi Nasseri, who was famous for living for years in an airport and inspiring the Spielberg/Hanks film 'The Terminal' died as he lived, in Charles de Gaulle airport. He may have had a terminal illness.

Was he wearing a fucking poppy or not?

Saw Willo Flood in the wine aisle at Tesco earlier. Like me, he wasn't wearing a poppy.

We refrained from high-fiving each other.

Either him or his other half is a Rose drinker, which I 've got to admit, kind of ruined the moment.

I've said before, nothing shows more respect than colouring in your head with shoe polish.

I thought I passed him once, then I realised I was in the light bulb aisle.

Not sure about that. Saw a bus in Dunfermline the other day and instead of saying “not in service” it said “Lest We Forget” and some Teletext-standard animation of a soldier and some poppies.

Eta - just saw the Blackburn bus above. Great minds think alike etc
