Great vid, I thought the patina/crap on the dial added to the value though.

I believe it was finished to whatever the customers' request going by some of the comments/feedback.

The restorer maybe needs to use the odd caption on screen explaining stuff though.

Thank You.

Speaking of divers, two new microbrand additions dropped through the letterbox simultaneously this week. Meet the Phoibos Eagle Ray, a compression-style diver from Hong Kong, and US company Aquacy’s bronze diver with its malachite dial. That’s my display case full now, pushing me into theoretical “one in, one out” territory. (Or, I just buy another case 🤣)

The Aquacy is the first bronze watch I’ve owned, procured as a trial run before I start dropping some not-so-subtle hints about how the recently released Christopher Ward C60 Pro 300 bronze diver with the brown ombré face would make a lovely Xmas present.

ETA: @Bigmouth Strikes Again, Aquacy is a sister company/brand of Oceaneva.

That's what I'm going to have to do, ☹️ got another couple on the way (will post pics).

Great couple of pieces, bronze is a stunner, would take it off the leather strap though (rubber, bracelet, or nato for a diver)

Just my opinion though.

Cheers.

Agreed; and I've already got a rubber strap with a matching bronze buckle on the way from Steeldive.com. On which note, did you put the blue strap on your Oceaneva yet? I'd very much like to see that.

This is my collection as it currently stands, a bunch of mostly cheaper/older pieces padding out the Tudor and the Rolex I got for my 50th some (many) years ago. I'm not planning any more additions before Xmas, but hell, I've said that before!

Just took delivery of this wee cracker.

PXL_20240601_162842731.thumb.jpg.fb60deb28f394e8ccff1e853bea0ae2e.jpg

It came with the original Omega beads of rice bracelet which is nice, but unfortunately far too small. Not sure how easy it'll be to source a couple of genuine links for a watch made in 1961.

Just swapped out the leather for a rubber/bronze combo. The new buckle might just be the biggest I've ever seen, but it looks really good on the wrist.

So much for one in, one out. Why am I so weak-willed?

As might have been surmised from my previous drooling over anOrdain’s enamel dials, I am a fan of watches which employ unusual materials, and this one from the Knot Premium Automatic Concept range is pure dial porn. It has an Urushi lacquer face, infused with gold and silver powders in a gradient finish, all “handcrafted by Nobuichi Otake, Traditional Artisan” if their marketing is to be believed.  I chose the vermilion dial, the reddish pigment extracted from cinnabar (mercury sulphide) ore, thus ticking pretty much all the “unusual” boxes at once. Its colour varies from a dull almost-brown to an eye-popping red depending on the light source and angle. (As always, my pictures on the wrist simply don’t do it justice.)

image.png.406a0e66cc10bbc42b1e0f8db59c9d0f.png

The materials are all sourced and constructed in Japan, including the case which uses the same finishing and polishing techniques as a Grand Seiko. Rather than the default black leather strap I went for their extra-thick Milanese mesh bracelet which was specifically designed to complement the automatic range and which does so very nicely indeed.

I’d probably have chosen a dateless option if there was one, but the more I look at it now that it’s here I actually think I prefer it with the contrast of a date window. I wouldn’t rule out going back at some point for their equally exquisite black lacquer chronograph.

Couple of Ali express sale deals

Cadisen aqua - helm rip off but it's a nice watch and no 3 year wait (£44 )

Cadisen 62MAS , quite a small fitting watch but a lovely rubber strap , hardly feels like it's there. (£38)

Yeah, I picked up the Aqua too, but in orange.

Only annoying thing is how the "i" in Cadison doesn't line up with the 12 on the dial - it slightly annoys me every time I look at it

I'm currently #5900 on the Helm Komodo waiting list

The latest Scottish Watch podcast was really good today, one of the founders of Garrick watches on talking about his history and how the company came about. really interesting listening how they make their dials and movements.

had been looking at a Norfolk on chrono24 a while back and the new S3 mk2 is stunning if a bit out my budget

An interesting innovation from Horage, a micro regulator that they are hoping the big boys jump on and revolutionize watch accuracy

Revolution 3
