If you scroll down to the bottom of the SPOTY page on there, there is an expandable box with all the other countries versions.
dundeefc1783
Thought Phelps spoke well. Seemed like a decent humble guy and was interesting story in his VT about the drink driving etc. Didn't know that about him.
ayrmad
Don't really understand why Froome wasn't on the list, they could at least have the bottle to announce that the drugs issue is why he's not on the list, he wouldn't have been near winning it but winning 3 TDF's is more of an achievement than quite a few on the shortlist.
Elixir
Guys - what happened to wee Lewis Hamilton? Sure I've seen his name thrown about before when talking about top British 'sportsmen'. Edited December 18, 2016 by Elixir

But what would be in the bottle? You're probably right. Dave Brailsford is up before the Commons Select Committee tomorrow - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cycling/38356946. It could be a spectacular crash!
dogmc
The standard of the nominees this year must have been the highest ever. If you look back at some of the previous winners they never got close to achieving what some of the ones that ended up nowhere this year have. Just to pick one example, 1975 - David Steele, cricketer. Handed his first cap at 34 and performed heroically against the dangerous Aussie attack in the Ashes, which Australia won 1-0. And don't get me started on the footballers. Thought a large chunk if the 16 shortlist were nowhere near being best. Lot of box ticking going on to crowbar in non sports and ensure paralympians were represented. Wiggins n Froome clearly avoided through peds 'alleged tainting' but farah included.....Jamie Murray world class achievements in this year (plus last) ignored but showjumpers in ??
dogmc
What about Greg Rusedski and Zara Phillips ffs Zara Phillips nearly killed the show! Utter establishment 'but but but but she's royal n her mum won it too so...'
peasy23
Definitely a lot of box ticking, I said to the missus at one point it was like an LGBT meeting on the stage with Daley, Balding and Ian Thorpe, then had to explain to her that the hockey captain is married to her team mate. -
Father Dougal McGuire
I'm still seething that Lewis Hamilton won ahead of McIlroy a few years ago. What a shambles that was

I've no issue with breaking down bigotry but showjumpers ahead of someone like Jamie Murray is nonsense. Did initially think that someone earlier said Phelps was with thon mad homophopic Murican god squadder mob.....if that's true then top trolling from bbc for him to be handed award from thorp. Not sure if that's accurate or not but funny if it is.
