Well done Andy.. but Mo doesn't make top 3 again. An utter disgrace imo.... what he has achieved is amazing; but with a name like Mohammed he probably doesn't appeal to many of English voters

Or is it his coach and associates?

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/othersports/article-3111619/Alberto-Salazar-doping-scandal-Five-key-questions-athletics.html

"Mo Farah's athletics coach Alberto Salazar has been accused by BBC’s Panorama of supplying and trafficking illegal performance-enhancing drugs for his athletes. Witnesses told the BBC that American Salazar had provided Farah’s training partner, Galen Rupp, with testosterone from the age of 16.

"British Athletics has confirmed that Jama Aden, the Somali coach who has been arrested by Spanish police on doping charges, no longer works with Mo Farah even though he was “an unofficial facilitator” for Britain’s Olympic 5,000m and 10,000m champion when he trained in Ethiopia in 2015."

"The coach of some of the world’s most famous distance runners was arrested in Spain on Monday in a sting operation that rocked athletics once again. Jama Aden... was found with EPO and other banned substances in a hotel outside Barcelona."

The standard of the nominees this year must have been the highest ever. If you look back at some of the previous winners they never got close to achieving what some of the ones that ended up nowhere this year have.

Just to pick one example, 1975 - David Steele, cricketer. Handed his first cap at 34 and performed heroically against the dangerous Aussie attack in the Ashes, which Australia won 1-0. And don't get me started on the footballers.

Do other countries have this kinda thing?

Wikipedia would suggest so.  If you scroll down to the bottom of the SPOTY page on there, there is an expandable box with all the other countries versions.

Don't really understand why Froome wasn't on the list, they could at least have the bottle to announce that the drugs issue is why he's not on the list, he wouldn't have been near winning it but winning 3 TDF's is more of an achievement than quite a few on the shortlist.

But what would be in the bottle?

You're probably right. Dave Brailsford is up before the Commons Select Committee tomorrow - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cycling/38356946

It could be a spectacular crash!

Thought a large chunk if the 16 shortlist were nowhere near being best. Lot of box ticking going on to crowbar in non sports and ensure paralympians were represented. Wiggins n Froome clearly avoided through peds 'alleged tainting' but farah included.....Jamie Murray world class achievements in this year (plus last) ignored but showjumpers in ??
