Pretty clear he doesn't actually know much about football either.
Shandon Par
Very niche - probably have to be a car nerd to enjoy it. Smith and Sniff. They’ve had a YouTube show for a few years but moved to a podcast in lockdown. It’s Jonny Smith, who prestented 5th Gear with Riichard Porter, who wrote TG/now writes The Grand Tour.
AsimButtHitsASix
Apologies if it's a repost as it's not exactly a new podast but I was reading about the Cagot in France (interesting topic) and discovered a podcast that discussed them called Omnibus. Was alright. Listened to a few others. Decent stuff. https://www.omnibusproject.com/ Two guys discussing weird things. "An encyclopedic reference of strange-but-true stories compiled as a time capsule for future generations." 30-60 minutes long. Some interesting topics. Reminds me a bit of RadioLab but more interest in strange episodes throughout history and not as focused on contemporary stories. GoTeamGaz
For the last week Trampled Bet have been doing a Lockdown Football Quiz every day, 10 random questions out of 100 to a football podcaster guest, they've had Sean McDonald, OldFirmFacts & Guy Kilty from BBC Five Live & others so far (with another 10 to go) http://www.trampledbet.com https://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/trampled-bats-trampled-bet/id1427389771?mt=2&ls=1 https://open.spotify.com/show/3vaCe34IiRgQDgyaTdYKEn https://www.google.com/podcasts?feed=aHR0cDovL3RyYW1wbGVkYmV0LmxpYnN5bi5jb20vcnNz Edited May 6, 2020 by GoTeamGaz -
Dee Man
Just finished the third and final episode of Casefile's 'The Muswell Hill Murderer' aka Denis Nilsen. I don't want to give too much away but he kills a few people. A 3 part drama called Des with David Tennant playing Nilsen starts later this year on ITV. Should be a good laugh. Been binging on Sword and Scale. Another true crime podcast but as opposed to Casefile's one man narration from start to finish, this includes interviews with victims, relatives and police as well as news reports from the time and audio from the court cases. Highly addictive if you're into that sort of thing. The first podcast I've paid for a subscription as I've finished all 160+ free episodes and now get access to 60+ bonus episodes for the grand price of £2.50.
Shandon Par
Can’t remember which ones were any good but the subject of the Long Island Serial Killer has lots of podcasts dedicated to it. Truly bizarre that they’ve not identified the killer/killers/late killers. Is it a gang of well to do sex cultists? Is it tye crooked cop who beats up prostitues? Is it a mad doctor who calls the victims’ families from the missing girl’s phone to reassure them he has taken in their missing sister/daughter to his home for wayward girls. Is it the guy who topped himself when the latest body’s missing clothes and phone turns up next to his back garden. Could it be the three guys one of the victims was with when she rang the police to say “help, they are trying to murder me”? Is it the gardener who carries the sacks the bodies are all dumped in in his truck? There’s a recent series that accompanies the film on Netflix but it’s not that good, or a bit drawn out. Worth checking some of the podcast on it of you like true crime as it’s real “truth is stranger than fiction” stuff. How the f have they not identified whodunnit?
Clockwork
Posted back up the thread I think, but Greg Jenner’s ‘You’re Dead To Me’ podcasts on the BBC Sounds App are well worth a listen. Easy listening light comedy, interesting & informative. Each contribution delivered by a different guest every episode, aims to dispel many of the popularly held views and ‘facts’ about historical figures and events. Thoroughly enjoyed them. Saigon Raider
Enjoying Slow Burn right now. First series is about Nixon and Watergate, second is Clinton and Lewinsky. The one I am on is Biggie and Tupac - have heard most of the stories before but it's still really well put together.

Saigon Raider
Another one I have been enjoying for a while now is Wrestle Me. I used to love the wrestling back in the day and this is two guys going through every Wrestlemania from the beginning. Loads of catch up on if you are interested. Pete Donaldson from Football Ramble is on it with a guy called Marc Haynes (he is very knowledgeable about it all) - frequently hilarious, especially all the reveals about how messed up the whole industry was/is.
Shandon Par
Telling Everybody Everything is a new podcast by Katherine Ryan and probably my favourite just now. it can be serious (eg, an episode on her miscarriage) but there’s also really mad stuff, like her getting duped into performing a series of not-so-innocent tasks by a guy with a balloon fetish. It’s a bit like ASMR or some old late night talk radio show, with her just gently chatting into the mic for half an hour or so. I knew who she was but wouldn’t have said I was a dedicated fan, but she has stumbled across a formula that works so well as a podcast.

Via Slow Burn I discovered another Slate podcast, about the Ruby Ridge Standoff in rural Idaho in 1992 (Slate Presents Standoff). A fascinating listen and a good pre-cursor to End of Days from the BBC (BBC link). 9 hours ago, Shandon Par said: Enjoyed the Tupac and Biggie one - jumped straight to the series but need to go back to the others. As above, I would highly recommend the Clinton/Lewinsky series. I've just re-listened to the first season of Over My Dead Body (link), which I thought was really interesting. As was The Shrink Next Door (which is being made into a TV show this year) (link). All very American, but in my eyes a far better listen than Sword and Scale, Casefile etc. that are essentially some weirdo summarising a Wikipedia page.

That would be Lon Horiuchi. He was also present at Waco and surrounded by controversy there too. He is discussed in the podcast - a pretty dishonest human being by all accounts, certainly not someone who should have been behind a powerful weapon in a stressful situation. Never mind two. If you haven't already listened to the Slate podcast on Ruby Ridge and the BBC one on Waco - then you should definitely do so. Both utterly fascinating - and give a good insight into the weird world of American firearms and police. Another good podcast along similar lines is Bundyville, about the Occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. Podcast link on NPR. I've listened to both seasons, and are well worth a listen.

Without giving too much away it's a fascinating insight into how a few owners and users of sites on the dark web were tracked down. I thought I wouldn't have been able to stomach it but it doesn't get into too much graphic detail apart from a few WTF moments. Couldn't stop listening, highly recommended. Just finished this today - absolutely brilliant podcast. Some dark subject matter, but incredibly interesting. The CBC podcasts that I have listened to - Someone Knows Something, Uncover, Finding Cleo and Finding Warhead - have all been exceptional. Far too soft on China, so much so I switched off half way through I gave up midway through the second season. I agree with a lot of comments on here, the second season was a big drop from the first. 3 minutes ago, Dee Man said: Just listened to the preview of the Over My Dead Body preview. I'll be honest I gave up on Sword and Scale after the first 40 or 50 episodes - I found that the episodes were barely researched, with little added to what one could read on the subject's Wikipedia page. And the host was a complete weirdo - interjecting some really unusual and subjective opinions and sections of psychological analysis - and enjoyed the gore and violence much more than was healthy... In my eyes Over My Dead Body is a far better production, properly journalistic and takes a far deeper dive into the story (and the story is not one that has been covered by every man and his dog).
