Bert Raccoon
Imagine being forced out your homeland due to a danger to your life or persecution of your beliefs then getting shite like that from a place you believed to be a safe haven. Absolute thick scum perpetrating these acts. Shameful.

vikingTON
Deprivation and the Iraq War have got absolutely nothing to do with a small bunch of gammons smashing things about in an English summer. There has always been that fringe element within the UK public since the days of the National Front, and there's no evidence that they are a substantially larger or more impactful element than 40 or 20 years ago. -

I think the specific "flavour" of things was influenced by the George Bush through to Obama era of US foreign policy, something UK prime ministers jumped aboard. That can be said to be a contributing factor to the specifically anti-Muslim angle to current events. However, I agree with your point, though. These in-group rampages happen anyway. If they weren't primarily anti-Muslim then they'd instead be primarily anti-Black or similar.
Dan Steele
And all on the back of a General Election campaign that was based on which party could be most anti-migrant. Labour had plenty opportunity to call out this far-right rhetoric. They chose not to and they've given that narrative room to grow. English nationalism in its full 'taking back control' mode, aided and furthered by voices that should have been countered and sidelined.

vikingTON
30 minutes ago, J_Stewart said: An immediate initiative around acceptable rhetoric, and how that’s policed throughout traditional and social media is required as an absolute priority, Who would be given the power to define 'acceptable' rhetoric and which agency would apply such a policy? How do you think it would have applied to critical discussion of Israel shortly after October 2023, or countless culture war topics if Suella Braverman and co. were still in office? This is why retaining a historical perspective on current events is crucial to avoid making knee-jerk reactions that only make things worse in the long-term.
