We had a lot of possession but flattered to deceive. Gibbons and Beaumont are not a pairing simple as. Caldwell is a statue. The first goal was from nothing, simply not good enough from defence and keeper.

2nd goal is 1 of those things, caught on the break pushing, no big deal. Honestly, airdrie are a poor side but so were we.

Airdrie Sat back happy to let us have the majority of the possession. We were very statuesque regarding our movement off the ball however, whereas when the home side broke there was always a willing runner from the midfield whom was never picked up. The first goal was very poor with our centre halts flat footed as the home sides player nicked in before the keeper to score, and we we nth in at half time deservedly a goal down. Actually thought we played some good stuff second half with McDaid causing problems down the left. We were guilty at times of trying to walk the ball into the net, but maybe credit to Airdries defending as they fought hard to keep us out. They missed a sitter, and scored late on when we were all up the other end. The goal didn't matter but should have been easily kept out, the shot was very central to the goals. Airdrie were a much better organised side than the hapless lot that turned up at CP in December, without looking great. Thought our play merited a draw in the end but have no gripes about the result.

Good result for us in the end despite looking shaky at times towards the end of the second half.

It was my first time watching our two new signings Faria and MacDonald and I must say both really impressed. While he's no Bastian Schweinsteiger, Faria's positioning was good and you can tell he's got a good football brain. And MacDonald looked really exciting going forward and reasonably solid at the back.

Ferguson at right back didn't really impress - he doesn't look any better that what we already have. Same goes for Mackin really not impressed with him.

Agree with what's been said above that I think Watt needs a spell out the side, while he has been fantastic for us he's really been off the boil the last couple of months. I don't necessarily agree with booing him however he's a footballer at the end of the deal so will need to deal with it.

Not sure if its been mentioned, but how was Scullion not sent off for his brilliant save in the first half?

Presume you meant when he caught the ball on the touch line. That is not a red card offence nor is it an automatic yellow card offence despite many folks seeming to believe it is.

3 yards inside the touch line definitely warrants a card

Deliberate hand ball not a cardable offence?

LOL yourself - you think you know the Laws better than the referee or that he didn't think it was deliberate handball. The referee applies his discretion - tripping someone is a cardable offence but does a player get booked for it every time - no they don't. Same with hand ball - you will almost certainly get booked for a deliberate hand ball that stops a promising attack but not necessarily for a hand ball like yesterday's where the ball was aimlessly drifting out for a throw with no Airdrie player near it.

FIFA guidelines to the Laws state Referees are reminded that deliberately handling the ball is normally punished only by a direct free-kick or penalty kick if the offence occurred inside the penalty area.

"A caution or dismissal is not normally required."

Indeed, deliberate handball in the area can be a red card but normally only if it denies a clear goalscoring opportunity

Although a deliberate handball would normally mean a yellow and most refs would have booked him for that incident, the ref has made an allowance for the type of incident as really it's harmless.

To be honest if airdrie scored from the free kick which was in a reasonable position I would have been raging with Pat.
