Got to admire the chutzpah of the Tories.
Take a load of Labour policies, wrap them up in some right wing populism, add a touch of xenophobia, and hey presto you've got The Telegraph, Express and Daily Mail banging on about how wonderful the budget is.
It all just goes to prove how much of an unelectable fuckwit Jeremy Corbyn was.

Chris Grayling has been appointed to the intelligence committee in an act of astonishing chutzpah.

He will now be responsible for publishing the Russia report.

Oy.

Or how thick voters are.

Might have slipped under the radar, but the family of Abdelbaset al-Megrahi can appeal against his conviction as a miscarriage of justice may have occurred.

This is good news.

I've been trying to scour the net for some of the bad news that governments are going to pump out at the moment.

Asked salmond must be well chuffed. Perfect timing for him, although obviously the ruling will have much more of a bearing than simply press coverage.

The Cash for Ash report in NI has been flying pretty well under the radar.

Listening to the radio about folk worrying about their incomes right now. Apparently everything is on the table - universal basic income, a temporary workers credit payment, abolishing the 5 week wait for universal credit...could end up being a decent chance to change the welfare system.

Revealing documentary about Dominic Cummings on BBC 2 earlier on tonight. Despite his protestations of no party affiliations and hints of anti elite pro working class sympathies, his background is in arguing for the privatisation of education and health, big fan of the Iraq war apart from paying too much heed to the UN naysayers (Britain and the US should have ignored them from the start), and spouting far right replacement theory about Europe getting invaded by Muslims. The false start of letting the coronavirus run rampant and unimpeded to build up herd immunity sounds very much his way of thinking along with his eugenicist chums. Worth a watch anyway on iplayer, 9pm.

Just received some pamphlet through the door with a 'Parliamentary report 2019/20' from my local MSP Liam Kerr.

Is it usual for this to have absolutely no mention of which party he represents? I just found it strange.

(He's a Tory - I had to look it up)

They’re not running with the “Jackson Carlaw Party”? They must not think that the beetroot-faced gimp has the appeal of a fake colonel with a shit-eating grin, media connections, and an aversion to work.

Tory remix:

Benefits need to be so low that people are better off working.

I mean I agree bigger wages for the low paid etc but you're having an absolute mare today at the prospect of the Wrong Kind Of Politician ending up being the ones to bring in UBI.
Maybe if benefits were higher employers would offer larger wages to encourage them.
