RANGERS have today secured the services of goalkeeper Matt Gilks on a two year deal following his departure from English Premiership side Burnley.

The 34 year-old Scotland internationalist is vastly experienced having played for a wide variety of clubs in his career, and arrives to provide competition to current number one Wes Foderingham.

McGregor was a very good keeper though, signing an expensive back up when your number one isn't that good is just mental.

How much is Gilks earning a week at Rangers?

(Also, it would be unlikely we'd bring in a backup on a higher salary than our number one, and I doubt Foderingham is earning any more than about four or five grand a week)

Probably the same amount tbh. £10,000 a week for two good quality keepers isn't too bad.

What happened with Gilks and Hearts, a few weeks ago they were having a look at him. With Alexander released and away to Aberdeen it could have meant he could have a strong claim for first choice keeper?

What went wrong there, was he not the standard or was it terms?

Rangers offered Gilks almost double what Hearts were.

When is Foderingham getting his England cap?

He probably won't get one, however it's not exactly too far fetched considering John Ruddy and Fraser Forster both had good season(s) in the Scottish Premiership before going down south and getting in the national squads.
