The Partick Thistle thread

Always wondered when we re-signed him whether there was concrete interest, but the other clubs were all scared off.  Looks like the case now - wondering what kind of contract we've given him too, given that surely they were looking at a considerable layoff when he signed it.

Still, he's our best option as long as he comes back at the same level he left at.  At least Welsh has looked better than last season, otherwise it'd be an even bigger issue.  Plus should mean we get to see more of the incredibly handsome Ryan Edwards

Was always sceptical we'd see him this side of Christmas but that's a blow, especially with Dumbuya out til at least new year.

This is Div Wilson's year anyway.

In the sun today that we're playing a bounce game this afternoon (no idea vs who) and Grandison will play so he's still around.

I wonder if the specialist who advised that the best course of treatment for a cruciate tear would be physiotherapy was Marvin Andrews. Not aiming this at the club but it's frankly ludicrous that it's taken nearly 6 months to arrive at the conclusion surgery was the best option. To sit back and go "well we don't really know what the issue is" for God knows how long without undergoing any kind of exploratory procedure it would seem to actually clarify the damage is bewildering.

My only guess is that when his contract ended was it our problem to identify the best course of action?

Sean Welsh to absolutely boss the next 9 months.

Now seen 2 separate folk say Dumbuya is out for the season as well, is that just worst case scenario or has that been confirmed somewhere? I thought he was due back in the new year.

The last I read about Fraser was after that open day it was said he will probably need keyhole surgery on his knee as well and he's been missing for 4 months now. Armand 2's shout of Marvin Andrews as club knee specialist might not be too far off.

Have we been unlucky with injuries or is this an average amount and you just don't notice other clubs problems? At the tail end of both our first season up and last season we were pretty much a shadow squad by the end of the season, plus the amout of guys we had that went in for operations over the summer...

Centre half should still be the priority, though if Osman gets fucked now...

If it's knickerwetting you're looking for lets discuss our only real goalkeeping option who seems to have been carrying the same injury since weeks before the end of last season and is still causing him to miss games.

And if it's knickerwetting to worry about Cerny missing a large amount of the season when the alternative is Scully, I'm going to need new breeks:(

Did he not get caught against ICT though?  I thought I noticed them leaving the foot in towards the end and him limping a wee bit.  Has it been said what's up with him officially?  I just assumed that Archie was doing his usual and not giving a single f**k about the cup and giving him the opportunity to rest

Well thanks very much for your clinical expertise.

There is ongoing debate amongst orthopaedic surgeons as to the optimal timing (if even indicated, at all) of ACL reconstruction surgery. It would be rare to proceed directly to reconstruction without a trial of several months of conservative management in the form of physiotherapy rehabilitation. There are a number of randomised control trials and cohort studies suggesting no statistically significant benefit in long-term functional outcome in early reconstruction versus conservative management.

I'm not sure your opinion is particularly helpful here.
