Swello
One of those seasons lads.... What a bizarre thing to happen to Trevor - must be the shite legroom on low cost airlines to Belfast. At least we (in theory) have a genuine back up for him - so it's time for Gillespie to show us what he's got.....

I just can't........... He’s been quite effective for us so far. Clearly not great at football but quite and athlete.

Aye, Gillespie has nearly 200 games under his belt in the EFL- it’s no like we’ve been left with Russell Griffiths for an extended period. Who’s one redeeming feature seemed to be that he wasn’t Craig Samson. The whole improving 12-18 might actually come in handy for the first time this season.
BigTamMuller
Might we see the return of the elusive Xenodochof off the back of this ... That's a horrible thing to happen to Trevor - hopefully it clears up problem free and he can get back to playing football sooner than later.

Memories of losing my 30+goal a season striker in champ manager 2001 to glandular fever abound!

I hope you'd strengthened your 12-18 with some english lower league players just in case.

Presumably that'll be Rohan Ferguson moved up to the first team bench now.
Archie McSquackle
Trevor Carson will miss an extended part of the season after developing deep vein thrombosis.https://t.co/3HD6EHB5bKJust as well we're not cramming a huge number of games into the next month or so then. Oh, wait a minute....

Oh, wait a minute.... That was what really killed us last season. It wasn't so much the injuries, it was the injuries during the most densely packed bit of the season - did we not have like 9 games in December last year or something? If we had the injuries when there were lots of international breaks, the impact would have been nowhere near as bad.

IIRC during the December slump Carson, Hartley, Moult, Tait, Cadden and Frear were all either injured or carrying injuries. Campbell missed a few of those games too, though I don't know if that was injury or he was simply being 'rested'. There may have been others... We ended up playing that 1-1 draw with Dundee with 10 men after Cadden went off injured, Frear was subbed on then his hamstring popped after 5 mins on the park or something. That was the game Hartley ended up stretching out his cramp himself I think? Edited November 23, 2018 by capt_oats
Swello
Aye - that game was a total farce....The whole squad was basically fucked by that point. The winter break helped get things back on an even keel but you have to wonder if cramming a quarter of the season into one month in order to get a winter break was a major part of the problem.

It is mental. We can't evenly spread the season out any more because before december there are international breaks and European midweeks. And we can't move games later because of the split and having to get the season finished. So basically all the winter break does is condense games into December which is of neglible value.

The highlight of that Dundee game was someone on Steelmen Online saying Frear should have just played at left back with his injury. Mental because 1. his hamstring had just exploded off his leg and 2. we'd be better digging a hole at left back on the off chance it might trip someone up.

JamesP_81
Took my boy to this one for his first ever match [emoji3]. He'll probably expect us to win every week now...I made that mistake taking him to the morton LC game last year, 4-0 and I'm left thinking that I've just made this harder for myself!
