crazylegsjoe_mfc Posted March 26, 2021 Share Posted March 26, 2021 (edited) I said at half time last night that if we had a better left-footed centre half that I would seriously consider benching Robertson. At the moment Tierney looks like a far better option there, he's even making more of an impact down the flanks whilst playing centre half than Robertson does. He seems great at carrying the ball, whereas with Robertson, in my head most of the time I've seen him put a good delivery in it's from running on to someone's pass rather than running with the ball and as a wing-back in a 3-5-2 he does look laboured. I'm not saying he's ever that bad, but for a player of his ilk, he rarely makes a difference. Edit - meant to add I do think Robertson was a lot better in the second half, as the team were. capt_oats Posted March 31, 2021 Share Posted March 31, 2021 (edited) On a tenuous point about Hussain, I know it's been standard all season for #YoungMotherwell to have been training with the first team (regardless of whether he's dropped down the pecking order loaning Semple to Cove but having him in training with us through the week mid-pandemic still seems a weird decision to me) but it seemed to be a bit extra in one of the training photos from last week. Clearly Alexander has more pressing matters at hand (like not getting relegated - in case that wasn't clear) but when you think about how fucked this season has been for the Academy players it does raise a question about what the plans are for this group as you'd think their development has been massively impacted with no Reserve fitba'. Also, based on nothing in particular (actually it's his chat about wanting a smaller squad) I kind of get the impression that Alexander may be less wed than Robinson to the "signing raw potential around the 20-23 y/o bracket" policy.
