Sorry to bring this up again but there's not much else to talk about right now, so to get the old rumour mill going again, I saw Louis Moult re-posted an insta story from his Mrs last night of them having dinner at Amarone...

I imagine there's probably a few Italians called Amarone across the UK so it could easily have been a restaurant down south, but there's three in Scotland in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen...

Bring him home etc.

The tag his missus has on the story puts it as the one in Bath (going by the decor in the background and logo on the menu).

We are apparently about to sign Liam Donnelly. What's he like? I know nothing about him which can only be a bad sign and what I have read from your fans hasn't exactly been glowing in praise.

Strong beard, completely different colour to his hair. Better centre-half than midfielder, but with abaolutely no interest in being a centre-half. Went through a 6 week spell where everything he hit went in.

Got injured and became a shitebag. Probably more suited to a centre back but appears to have carved out his own niche in midfield. A great signing if you're looking for a guy to do absolutely f**k all in the middle of the park. Specialises in watching folk run off him to score.

@Al B has definitely given you the tl,dr version.

Donnelly was our joint top scorer in 19/20 after he started the season with a freakish spate of goals. Finished the season with 7 in the league, 11 in all comps along with Chris Long.

He had/has flaws in his game but he wouldn't have been at Motherwell if he didn't. He signed as a centre half but was effectively written off by Robinson in his first season, we barely saw him - long story short it seems he underestimated the league and what you need in terms of the physical side of things.

He missed the entire 20/21 season with (knee) and I think there was always a bit of a question over his fitness after that.

Tbh, as @well fan for life says. he found a niche in midfield after Ally Gorrin left and he did bits of that role well to the point that we noticed when he wasn't there but equally he didn't quite have the awareness that you need to be a really effective holding mid.

He got himself into the NI international side and it's worth pointing out that he's their record appearance holder at u21 level.

I'd say he has a tendency to lose runners, or more accurately, he provides them with directions and happily waves them on their way.

He had a scoring streak that made him look better than he was, but at one point  he was a decent midfielder that could put himself about, but got injured.

Yeah Donnelly is infuriating.

Capable, occasionally, in a particular system, of being a tidy option in the middle of the park.

More often than not, doesn't track men, finds himself the wrong side of the ball, and offers zip.

Liking that very much!

My only gripe would be that I'd have loved to have seen the Suicide Prevention logo on the front of the shirt, I think we've missed a trick there, but obviously I get how important sponsorship money is to the club as a whole which in turn allows us to fund and support other charitable and awareness initiatives.
