dezz
Did it ever get confirmed what McGinley’s injury was that kept him out for so long? The comments from Ketts and the reaction from other players on social media about his comeback make it seem like it was pretty serious (stating the obvious considering he was out for 15 months!).

Always thought he was a strange looking guy but that silver into black dual beard has me

He was banged up after being found to be notorious serial killer: the Scranton Strangler.

Allroy for Prez
Give McGinley some minutes in a pre-season friendly by all means but he should be nowhere near even the bench come the opening game.

Swello
I'm assuming that if budget is tight, we simply won't replace Max and SODs can have at it as a wingback.
Archie McSquackle
What level are this team we were up against last night? Strangely we seem to have less people there on the piss for a Friday night game than we did on Tuesday when everyone looked wrecked.

Dutch 4th division - so public park fitba.

I don't rate Mcginley personally, but I'm glad to see him back. Firstly, on a human level, there was clearly something quite serious up with him, if he was out for 15 months and there was radio silence from the club on what the injury was. Secondly, if we are hoping to move him on, getting him back on to the park is going to make that easier too.

capt_oats
Oops. 3 posts in a row. Sorry about that. Anyway...I see that's Tait announced his retirement. Edited July 1, 2023 by capt_oats
santheman
See our 16 year olds got beat 4 0 today in the Lanarkshire Cup by Airdrie who fielded a very strong team by all accounts.
dezz
Tait was a great player for us during a pretty enjoyable period. Quite surprised to see him retire at 33 as he’s obviously insanely fit from all his CrossFit stuff and could still have done a job for a bottom 6 or top end Championship side.

In fairness his IG post says he's retiring from *professional* fitba. There's a flexibility there I guess. There were plenty of posts about it on here at the time but I think you really noticed what Tait brought after he left. When we went from 3rd* to heading for relegation and Robinson eventually resigning it felt like there was a massive shift in our "culture" when the likes of Tait and Hartley left the building and we were left with the likes of Gallagher et al as the key figures in the dressing room. He was probably the best captain we've had since Lasley and he wasn't even officially our captain.
