I’d have had Liam Kelly or Zander Clark called up in place of Gordon on the basis of ones in the championship and other two performed in the premiership.

I'd have had him ahead of Marshall. Penalty save aside Marshall's a bit piss poor imo.

Join me again tomorrow for more zinging hot takes.

Any mention of Zander Clark is worth it, if only to dig out this gif. Some boi.

Zander Clark is statistically, one of the worst in the Premiership this season, no?

He's absolutely not better than any of the 3 selected, or Kelly, or probably Bain. He's better than McCrorie.

If we need someone to win headers in the opposing box, I'd still have Calum Paterson ahead of him in that very niche stat he probably outperforms the other goalkeepers.

I think Kelly does deserve it based on half a season of fantastic performances, where McLaughlin has played once or twice when the league was won, but I understand why Clarke wouldn't want to upset the dynamic of the group for a third choice goalkeeper, albeit Kelly might end up being #1 at one point, whereas McLaughlin almost certainly won't be.

Mind you, by that logic, I guess he has upset the group to some extent by including Patterson of Rangers instead of Palmer.

Either way, I'm not too fussed from a Scotland perspective as it's unlikely that a second choice right-back, or third choice 'keeper will define our tournament.

Aye Clarke is piss poor. I’d have had Kelly in there instead of McLaughlin as a potential nod to the future as we’ve got 3 keepers in their mid 30’s.

I’ve got a feeling Gordon might end up starting for us come the tournament.

This is it.

Can't quite agree with Saints fans absolutely seething neither Clark or Rooney are in. Off hand I can name 5 fit goalkeepers who should be ahead of him in the pecking order.

Rooney probably closer, but he's still a liability defensively and is pretty poor on the ball. I reckon he'd look really bad against an England for example.

Kerr the one I'm disappointed about, but think Gallagher timed his form well and gained Clarkes "trust", so despite dipping in form was always likely to be picked ahead of those who have played better this season but not been in squads before.

I have never seen what suddenly put him in contention, what are his talents then? (I get that he's a St J hero from his recent antics.)

Agreed.

I'd take Rooney on the absolute chaos factor he brings to the team. With 15 minutes to go and needing a goal I'd lash him on just about anywhere. That's just me though, and I'm an idiot.

For me; Doig, Gauld, Palmer, Rooney, Kerr, Considine, Shankland and Paterson are all unlucky, in various ways, to not make the squad, but none of them are close to challenging for a starting spot, so really you're just splitting hairs over them not being there.

I've a lot of time for Rooney. An absolute horse of a man.

SOD has essentially got the trust of the manager at this point. You probably couldn't put too much (ability wise) between SOD, Richard Tait a couple of years back and Rooney now. Possibly just luck for SOD getting in at that point and fair play to him for holding down his spot.

They are unlucky that they aren't better footballers.

It would be great fun watching £50m, £300k a week, English defenders getting charged into full pelt by a 6ft3 bald c**t who just gets up and scream laughs into their face, tbh.

When we’re one nil down with a last minute corner in the final you’ll be wishing we had the big vape shop employee.

SOD's got the trust because when it comes to Scotland, he has not looked out of place at the level anymore than any other player.  Those who don't think SOD should be there have not watched Scotland under Clark or is a Club Snob.

Well exactly this, but mainly the hotel bar aftermath shots after he cleaned out Pickford with the winner.
