Motherwell FC - A Thread For All Seasons

Evidently we can't, we can't defend. There is absolutely zero leadership.

We brought in a bunch of kids to play wb. We could have sacrificed one of those for a CB, nah?

I mean, the same five centre halfs we had were rock solid at the end of last season, I don't know what we've done that have turned them all into bumbling idiots, but I'm not sure adding a 6th will make any difference if we don't figure out how we broke these ones.

Something about throwing shite at a wall.

A class display of bed shitting that's very on brand for this complete gang. The defence and goalkeeper look like they're utterly terrified every time they're asked to deal with a set piece because neither trusts the other. As soon as Aberdeen pulled one back you could see the panic set in.

I can't see anything about this squad & manager that makes me think going full scorched earth policy in the summer and starting over isn't the best plan.

We've scored eight in our last two league games. Tonight shows where our concentration should be. It's not an entire clearout.

We have lost 39 goals. Blaney and Casey should be replacing Mugabi and Butcher & should have done so tonight.

This is a trick true or false question isn't it?

There are 6 teams in the league who have lost more games than us. Again, stats like that just worry me the decision makers decide to keep the manager.

We're seventh, 13 points above bottom, seven from the playoff and three from sixth.

Our last three managers were a mentalist, a Hobson's choice which gave us Hammell and then no real choice given SK went absolutely mental as caretaker.

We made the decision to keep him after County and since then have slowly edged towards safety. The January window - lack of striker apart - was a big improvement on summer.

Kettlewell is very much on probation over the next few months but while there's a (strong) argumt against him, pretending it's open and shut to bin him is just daft. That's clearly not the case.

Fully aware of our position in the league. Hardly pretending it's open and shut, I just said we have an opportunity to change things when CEO. I've been fairly consistent in that and have also stated that I don't see the point in us binning him while the season is ongoing.

I've backed Kettlewell a lot, particularly during the run without a win. I wouldnt at all say he's been a disaster, but he's shown he's not as good of a manager as he thinks he is, not even close. I think a handshake and a new direction at the end of the season might be best for all involved and I don't think I'm alone in that.

You are most certainly not. New manager search officially announced on 01/06 for me.

Two league wins in 21 matches played. We are just very lucky Livi have had an absolute horror show or it could be a LOT more nervy.
Imagine this lot in a tense play off. Their collective arses have just collapsed in a 7th spot placeholder game.

The key to that was Butcher, who's the wrong side of 30 for 5 months on the treatment table.

Johnston and furlong also played a huge part in the solidity last season.

Mugabi, sods and Blaney, were they solid last season? How much did sods kick a ball from January onwards.

Anyway, I think we are crying out for a leader. It would have been a far more important signing than KVV would have been in defining the season.

You're certainly not but we've rattled through managers recently for various reasons and one of them is it's very hard to find a good one.

A new manager will either be someone who is inexperienced - which I believe everyone is against - or someone who has failed elsewhere.

And if we go for the latter, hoping he'll learn from his mistakes, why not stick with SK instead to see if he learns from his? He certainly has plenty in the plus column as well.

I definitely wouldn't renew him now but it's still very much 50-50 and his job to keep if we finish reasonably.

Liam Kelly. 3 (should have been 4) goals conceded. Zero saves of any consequence made. He did catch a corner but still

First season was great. Now I would take any keeper who had a pair of hands and above six foot over him.

That would be a tremendous fund raising idea. I’d pay a lot of money to charge at Liam Kelly in bubble football.
