Yet another swing and a miss for Holyrood's Unionist cabal as another of their twibbon-tastic campaigns leaves them with egg on their faces.

But surely it was the combined forces of the Unionists & Greens in Holyrood that forced the SNP tae back Calmac.

Or have I got that wrong?

Don't even have to look at Hothersall's Twitter to know he's going to suggest it was Labour activism and pressure that won CalMac this contract. The man has nae shame or self-awareness.

Here if you want to continue painting the complexion of parliament as literally everyone against the glorious and righteous SNP go ahead but nobody is believing it.

I think we both know the answer to that one, old boy.

Nice one SNP government  :thumsup2

The SNP are just tops

Well done the SNP. Looking after Scotlands interests

This is not a political decision. EU procurement laws required the Scottish Government to put the contract out to competitive tender. If Serco had submitted the best bid, it would have been awarded the contract under those laws.

It was SNP bad when the SNP had no say in it so now it's SNP good. :)

I think the main point is Slab bumping their gums about Serco bidding for it when they were fully aware of the rules from the previous tendering process.

Just like the NHS, Labour used this as a political football.

This is not unusual.

Over the last few years, Labour has criticised the Government for awarding new train contracts to foreign manufacturers, again huge contracts worth hundreds of millions.

Yet, in several cases, the last Labour government had started the procurement process under EU laws. But that did not stop Shadow Ministers and Trade Unions from lying hypocritically about the award of the contracts.

They're quite simply a bunch of charlatans. They are now claiming they forced the SNP to award it to Calmac. Never mind the fact that Serco can appeal if it's found to be a political decision and not a commercial one.

Nonsense. Those that draw up the tender documents are in a position to influence the eventual winners.  This could be as simple as setting minimum wage requirements that could create problems for a company like Serco who are known to screw their employees for profit.  It is interesting that the Serco bid was eliminated as opposed to being inferior.
