Whilst I'd say Brazil have been poor for a while, they beat a good Colombia side in the quarters and the German side that pumped them in the semi's were meticulous. BFTD Posted June 16, 2016 Share Posted June 16, 2016 There seemed to be a great atmosphere surrounding that tournament (although I think it might be because I was 9 and properly watching games). The English definitely look back fondly you that one. Pavarotti made it for me. That and Roger milla. Cameroon and West Germany for me; the rest was dire. England only have fond memories because they didn't get papped out in the Second Round/Quarters like normal; they were all despairing of how chronic their national team was after the group stage. It was amusing to see how Bobby Robson's tenure ended up being considered some kind of golden period, considering how nobody had a good word for him while he was England manager.
