That's not too bad. Shows we have a good starting base this time around.

Yeah but it's not like last time. People will be far harder to convince. Many of the arguments are well worn now and then there's the pissed off factor that thinks this has already been dealt with. As much as some yes voters are unhappy with this point being repeated by the Tories and labour it is a very legitimate point.

On the flip side, there are things going for Yes this time.  The amount of promises No made last time which turned out to be lies can be factually proven now, Brexit is obviously a biggie and there are something like 220,000 young people who will be eligible to vote who weren't old enough in 2014.

The SNP/Greens have to do three things imo

1. Absolutely nail the currency question

2. Be prepared to nail the inevitable bullshit about pensions. Most of them are entrenched Unionists, however there were a few who voted No because they believed BT's pish about their pensions being fucked over. If even a small percentage of them can be won over, plus a sizeable vote from EU citizens then there's a good chance.

3. Think carefully who they're sending out to TV debates/panels. I'm thinking especially back to Stewart Hosie's clusterfuck of a performance right before the 2014 referendum. Big hitters only.

And Elaine C fucking Smith.

That was a fucking embarrassment.  Agree, big hitters only.

I'd forgotten about that shambles.

Cheers Fide

She was so out of her depth she was almost treading water.

Mind, that was balanced with the beauty of Anas Sarwar pleading with the STV debate host for hauners.  (ETA: In a different debate, obvs)

4. Come out and just fight any bullshit that people come out with, and do it as quickly and as publically as possible. There was far too much standing on the sidelines and watching it happen last time. Fair enough on a measured approach, but people will buy into any old bullshit that gets peddled and it needs to get dealt with sharpish.

The Yes campaign was content last time to play a (weirdly polite and detached) defence. The regionalists were in full-on attack. That can't be allowed to happen again. Scotland's constitutional position in the UK being democratically unacceptable should be a major line of attack, rather than a venerable status quo that attacks the normal position of statehood and sovereignty.

It is true that a lie can be halfway round the world before the truth gets it's boots on.  Attack is definitely the best form of defence for Indyref2.
