dorlomin
Team GB into the semis, Oz and SA in a close match.... Seemed too popular for a general thread.
dorlomin
Saffers into the semi against team GB (and NI and Skye and Isle of Wight and Orkneys and all the other islands)
Bully Wee Villa
It's been enjoyable so far. The semis and final are on at a sensible time, too.

Irish RFU (which doesn't play Rugby 7s incidentally*) refuses to allow NI players to represent GB & NI.http://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/12665/northern-ireland-players-banned-from-representing-team-gb-in-rugby-sevens-at-rio-2016 *EDIT: They did form a bespoke team and tried to qualify - they and Italy don't play the World 7s Series - but lost v Russia in European SFs and Spain in World Repechage QFs. honestly united
The Irish have just taken up 7's but should be looking at the World Series qualifiers in the next couple of years. last years qualifing tournament had Brazil, Cayman Islands, Chile, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Mexico, Morocco, Papua New Guinea, Spain, Tonga, Zimbabwe with Japan winning their place in the World Series You have to qualify through the European tour, and Ireland won Rugby Europe 7s Trophy (2nd division) this year so are promoted to the top European tournament which has 2 spots up for grabs for the World qualifiers, this year Spain and Germany get the 2 spots ahead of Italy and Georgia (as GB1 & 2, France and Russia are already part of the World Series)
Sooky
Really hope the IOC decide to extend this past Tokyo. Think it's been a fantastic addition to the games.
Bully Wee Villa
Are England classed as "Britain" for the purposes of working out whether GB qualify, or is it based on whoever does best out of Scotland, England and Wales?
HibeeJibee
Latter.
Bully Wee Villa
Seems a bit unfair as we have three times as many chances to qualify, but I'll take it!
honestly united
To begin with it was suppose to be whichever team qualified would represent GB, ie England qualified so it would just be the England team that represented GB, not sure why it changed

Guest
Fiji comfortable. Would be good to see them win the whole tournament. Also guarantees them their first ever Olympic medal which is nice
Mark Connolly
Agreed. If a Mark Bennett-inspired GB don't win it, I have no issues with a Leone Nakarawa-inspired Fiji winning. Gold for Glasgow.
Sooky
Absolutely fantastic! Thought it was all going to go wrong when it was a line out and not the end of the game

Shuggie_Murray7
I though the Rugby 7s were brilliant to watch. Fast paced rugby with loads of scores. GB did well just to get to the final, despite being cery lucky against Argentina in the quarters, but Fiji are just next level. Nobody at the whole toyrnament got anywhere bear them. The Fijians were amazing to watch.

Salvo Montalbano
Both tourneys were good to watch - the skill level and pace in the women's side were a lot higher than the last time I saw any women's rugby and some of the less favoured nations did surprisingly well. It would have been good to have seen some bigger crowds but that seems to be an issue across the games (and remember there were plenty of empty seats at some events in London too).
