Clearly not content with just being in the bundesliga It was built for WC2006 as the token ex-East German venue. It was previously used by the established Leipzig clubs. StewartyMac
What most people overlook is that the 'RB' in their name doesn't actually stand for 'Red Bull', it's 'RasenBallsport'. -
Dunning1874
Excellent to see another young Scottish player going abroad rather than staying in the comfort zone of the UK. For all that they throw a fair bit of money about that's their second most expensive transfer this summer, they aren't putting that kind of money down for a player who'll be gradually eased in to the side. He'll be playing regularly and it's a great move for him.
Bully Wee Villa
Only because German rules prevent them being named after a company. They're still owned by Red Bull and their badge is the one you find on the side of fizzy drink cans.
Tulloch Gorum
The BBC say £13 million, the Daily Record £15 million. £13 million is €15.26 million, so I wonder if the Record (and some others) have simply confused the figure which the same value in two different currencies.

As BDV said, due to naming rules in Germany, they can't be called 'Red Bull', so named them RasenBallsport, keeping the RB prominent. It's got to be a good thing for a young lad to go and experience a different style of football and it can only be a good thing for the national team.

Christophe
Only "discussed" once you were called out on it by someone else. Your original message scoffed at the idea people thought they were named after Red Bull, worth pointing out whether I was first to do so or not. -

RandomGuy.
Is there not a couple of German clubs that were named after companies? You get the feeling they declined Red Bulls attempts at naming them Red Bull Leipzig out of spite more than anything,

YassinMoutaouakil
Disgusting move, hope he never plays for Scotland again. We should only call players up from plucky fan owned underdogs. #AMF

It's a pretty big city without a major football club since Lokomotiv have gone bankrupt several times and reside far down the system. No reason why they can't establish themselves in the Bundesliga, provided they are being run correctly and its not too much, too young.
