It's incredible that Saints don't have some kind of supporters database or even means of purchasing tickets online. When we play at McDiarmid we can select specific seats from a seating plan through the Dons ticket portal, yet home fans aren't able to do this for any game.

It's strange, in some ways St Johnstone are a forward thinking community/family club but instances like this are embarrassing.

Everybody can see this, except Saints it seems. They've been urged to create a database for years but have done nothing. I know somebody that let their season ticket lapse after about a decade a couple of years ago; no effort was made to query why they weren't renewing, then the next year, they received no correspondence about buying one.

There are a core group of 200-300 fans who follow Saints home and away but the club have no idea who they are if it ever came down to a severely restricted allocation somewhere. I see Aberdeen have given their most loyal supporters free tickets to the quarter-final next month. Saints wouldn't even know who their ones are to do that.

This ending of sales has been policy for a few years but has never been an issue as Celtic don't usually sell their allocation. It won't cause any change of thinking from Saints though. The £27 price told you all you needed to know about their attitude towards home fans in any case.

It's absolutely mental to have a customer base of a good few thousand and not know who they are or have contact details for them. We introduced the loyalty points scheme a couple of years ago to ensure the fans who go most regularly get priority on tickets. It's a no brainer and means every fan has to create an account in order to grow their points total. This coincided with the removal of pay-at-the-gate for home fans meaning that all supporters have to purchase a ticket online or through the ticket office in advance. This not only means they're able to communicate with supporters in future and encourage them to return, it also keeps the police happy as they know who is in the ground in each specific seat. If this was the case, you could sell tickets up until kick off for those who have a buying history/loyalty points.

When Saints were in Europe and nearly selling out their ground they would have had a good number of fans who wouldn't normally go who turned up to see the games. The club should have gathered details for all of these people and encourage them to return, letting them know there's a game on at the weekend, letting them know that they can get themselves and kids in for £15 (an excellent deal btw). It's amazing that a club who are doing so well on the pitch and in the community can get this so wrong.

ETA: And you've just signed Ricky Foster, may as well liquidate your club now

Anderson missed training this week, so that explains the urgency of getting the Foster deal done. A debut for a guy that hasn't trained with us, or throwing in, most likely, Liam Gordon? Can't see Comrie being a realistic option in this game.

I'd go with Kane and MacLean up front. The latter is obvious but Kane will unsettle their defenders more than Cummins. Millar a huge loss, especially if it means Paton starting.

Anderson being out is a massive blow, he's been outstanding this season. A Shaughnessy-McKay central defence worries me.

Massive test for the two centre halves and Foster. Wonder if we'll see a more advanced midfielder or a deeper one, last time it was more 4-1-4-1 with Paton sitting.
