Granny Danger
Trump is an egotistical megalomaniac who has discovered that being President is really hard, who is failing badly with domestic policy and that everyone is making fun of. The one distraction he can pull off is to heighten tension with a country that many regard as the number one rogue state. The problem is he won't win with North Korea. He will need to back down, which will make him more a target of ridicule, or literally go nuclear. There will be enough sane folk around him to avoid that. Hopefully.
Anonapersona
I find it amusing that the US is actually more of a joke than the UK. Quite a feat by the Trumpster. His name is practically banned in my workplace because of the cringe factor.
Miguel Sanchez
America should have their version of Prime Minister's Questions. Imagine watching him trying to handle direct rivals to him pointing this out in person.
harry94
It seems we know why Trump was tweeting a bit more than usual today. Blackwater founder held secret Seychelles meeting to establish Trump-Putin back channel Essentially, it's been revealed that before his inauguration, the United Arab Emirates brokered a meeting between the Trump team (a delegation led by the brother of the laughably unqualified education secretary's family who have donated major sums to the campaign and the Republican party over the years) and Russian government officials. This is being scrutinised as part of the FBI's wider investigation in Russia's election influence. Between this direct meeting and the crown prince of UAE's meetings with Putin and Trump in close proximity, it is apparent that there was at least one back channel between the US and Russia. There are lot's of dots forming (servers owned by different parties related to Trump, his transition team - the same Blackwater founder, Eric Price, and his sisters companies - and Russian banks who have been of interest to the FBI) but it seems like there's still a long way to go in joining them together. It may be that the money and data trail is a highly coincidental connection between high powered business people who have random servers for unrelated companies in Michigan that happen to be communicating with each other (and state Russian banks of suspicion) or it may be that the combination of that and the dead bodies piling up from the Steele dossier is espionage. In addition to this, there are also some aircraft with people of interest that seem to have patterns of meeting up on the tarmac at the exact same time and transport itineraries which prove that many people, Michael Cohen in particular, have blatantly lied about certain details. I'm not a statistician and the world is a complicated place among the elites but my judgement is that something is going on that will end some people in jail.
NotThePars
Louise Mensch enjoying a career renaissance with US liberals by saying "Russia did it" at every news event at least proves that we aren't the most pathetic state on earth.

It's like watching some form of film now whenever a major terrorist attack takes place . All the reels of flashbacks and crowd clips and so on. The Paris attack really was the worst for this . These will be on stop before two or three days before all of a sudden it's just back to normal and talk about rising or falling house prices until the next madman appears on the scene .Even when you look at 9/11 as it was happening the style of reporting was entirely different , obviously you can sense the utter shock and confusion by reporters as to what they were actually seeing but you could still sense they were trying their best to report on the story itself . Even further back and I think the news reports on IRA attacks were far more basic and just tended to be about reporting the facts , numbers of casualties and none of the whole dramatic music and montages we are given now a days .9/11 created a weird trend for news stations to make every attack in to some weird type of blockbuster viewing Edited April 4, 2017 by Forever_blueco
welshbairn
Not sure where to put this, but has anyone been watching American Justice on BBC2? It's about the criminal justice system in Jacksonville, Florida. The latest (last?) episode had a 12 and 13 year old up on murder charges. Both were treated as adult offenders and were remanded in adult prisons. The 13 year old who had shot someone in a gun trade/fight got 20 years. The 12 year old who shot a homeless man got 30 years. The minimum they will do under Florida law is 85%. The 12 year old was caught several times with home made weapons whilst on remand. Not surprising I would have thought for a street kid 12/14 years old in an adult American prison. The three episodes are on BBC Iplayer.

What gets me is the needless emphasis on individual cases of particular tragedy, for example informing us that one of the victims had just got married last week while showing photos of the happy bride. Reading out messages of condolence rolling in from complete strangers on Twitter etc is another annoyance. That's not news, it's cynical tugging at the heartstrings of viewers to keep them glued to the grief and fear bonanza.
