It's perfectly believable, of course, but it doesn't automatically make it true... The very carefully worded denials from the Whitehouse would seem to confirm it.
williemillersmoustache
The fact the Washington Post went to the security agencies and said we have this story, what do you think? And they said, please don't publish those bits, but go with those makes it pretty cast iron IMO.
welshbairn
Trump fesses up, contradicting his spokesmen yet again.
doulikefish
I often watch Fox news (work with loads of yanks) and its now just a channel dedicated to trying to spin his f**k ups.Its hilarious nowadays
williemillersmoustache
Actually it was a great idea, of course it happened. In any other time, a hasty, panic denial then the next day, an admittance but, it was the right thing to do because reasons would have him strung up.

NotThePars
The fabled checks and balances all depend on the President following the accepted norms and traditions of reasonable behaviour. Trump doesn't even know what they are, in his business career he stole first then said "see me in court", knowing he could outspend his opponents. Our unwritten constitution could also be severely threatened if Charlie gets a bee in his bonnet, or May went even more loopy. The powers given to the President weren't anticipated to be given to someone like Trump. People were roundly laughed at for years when they suggested that removing these checks and balances was ill-advised as someone outright dangerous could assume office.

Zetterlund
Shouldn't we share this kind of information with everyone? Would the reaction have been the same if Trump had shared it with France? How would the media have reacted if 300 holidaymakers were blown up over the Med and it was found that the US had this info and didn't share it?

You can give the threat information without giving clues to the identity of the source, especially to a country which is waging war with near opposite objectives in the country concerned.

welshbairn
Quote Back When Things Were Normal, There Was a Process for Sharing Info With Russia Normally, when the U.S. government wants to share intelligence with Russia, there is an elaborate vetting process, current and former officials say. Sometimes the reports are marked “REL Russia,” for “releasable Russia.” “There is a process for sharing releasable intelligence with the Russians,” Eric Pelofsky, a former National Security Council senior director, told NBC News. “For the president, it could take a few hours — and it would be sanitized in a way that would be respectful of the risk. And, likely as part of that process, our intelligence community would engage our intelligence partner so that we would not jeopardize the continuing flow of intelligence from them.” -Ken Dilanian http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/white-house/live-blog-trump-s-disclosure-info-russia-causes-white-house-n759996
Ira Gaines
Zetterlund seems to be a weird Trump supporter. Asks veiled questions about him constantly while not committing to a stance.

If he survives blagging his way through Saudi, Jerusalem, the Vatican and Brussels I'll be impressed. Sicily I'll be fucking amazed. His people are demanding houses to be knocked down to make way for his 30 vehicle convoy. Merkel and the rest of the leaders are staying in the perfectly acceptable 5 star local hotel. If only there was a Trump hotel nearby with golf carts available.

Is definitely guilty of trying to white-knight Russia on occasion but he's been plenty critical of Trump.
