It's like he's explaining this to a 8 year old. Of course, he's only repeating it the way it was explained to him.

It's almost 100% factually incorrect as well. Russia went in to prop up a puppet regime against the likes of Bin Laden, American support ensured that Bin Laden won.

P.S. Chilling out in Afghanistan before the madness started.

On the one hand I want the Dems to retake the House and Senate, on the other that probably means Ted Cruz losing in Texas.

While that would be glorious, I put a bet on at some very long odds a few months ago for Beto O'Rourke to be the next Democratic Presidential nominee.

I based this on him narrowly losing to Cruz, but using the increased exposure - and progressive bona fides in not taking pac money - to make a run for the White House...

I agree with the points about Beto's voting record, but struggling to decide if having another centrist Democrat is worth the money I'd make...

Nobody explained that to him. Nobody believes that interpretation of events. You could take a two page article in Foreign Affairs and have a better grasp of Afghan/Soviet relations.

He chooses to lie about these things because he knows 1. His voters don’t read Foreign Affairs and 2. Will believe anything he says.

Sanders would be best, Warren would be second best. The rest of them are just varying shades of pish. O'Rourke just seems like another Obama - a seemingly likable guy who would make liberals feel fuzzy and warm while continuing drone warfare, immiserating vast swathes of America and hastening the death of the planet.

There is not going to be a centre left POTUS; that’s a reality we have to live with.  Even if the American people wanted it the Democratic Party won’t offer them that option.

National US debt up over 10% in just two years despite Trump saying he would get it down to zero* during an eight year tenure.

Now saying it doesn’t bother him as he won’t be there when the impact is felt.

* this is a farcical statement but probably got little or no scrutiny at the time which in itself is worrying.

I don't think so.

Clinton had a big advantage with African American voters in 2016 but most polling is now showing that Sanders is now the most popular politician amongst African Americans. I don't think that's down to Sanders as much as changing perspectives amongst African Americans about politics due to BLM and the increased levels of political discourse on twitter and social media. If African American voters get behind a Medicare for all candidate they can definitely win the nomination.

Last spring, a Harvard-Harris poll found Sanders to be the most popular active politician in the country. African Americans gave the senator the highest favorables at 73 percent — vs. 68 percent among Latinos, 62 percent among Asian Americans and 52 percent among white voters. It wasn’t a fluke: This August, black voters again reported a 73 percent favorability rating for Sanders. Critics, such as Starr, continue to point to the senator’s 2016 primary numbers among older African American voters to claim that his message somehow doesn’t resonate with people of color as a whole — and continue to ignore that, according to GenForward, Sanders won the black millennial vote in the primaries.

*I had to use DuckGoGo to find that article. On Google the search "Bernie Sanders popular African Americans" brought up articles about him being unpopular with AAs......

Surely it's as simple as Sanders or Warren winning the nomination?

Like it was simple for Sanders to win it in 2016, when he was the most popular candidate before it was definitely not, no way, uh uh, no siree bob rigged?

I repeat this like it's a cartoon catchphrase, but: The Democrats are the Republicans, but with better PR.

It was the East Germans watching West German scat porn on TV and Russian soldiers taking videos back home that did it. Hopefully similar to what's about to happen to Trump.

Jimmy Carter and George McGovern both won the nomination against the party machine. Trump won the Republican nomination despite the party hating him.

I don't think Sanders was the most popular candidate in 2016 and his movement was fairly new and hadn't spread as far as it had now. I agree that it was rigged. I think that since June 2016 so much has happened that Sanders or Warren winning would be no surprise at all.

Nah, America is getting Joe "Netanyahu's my bezzie" Biden and liking it, imo.

Can't remember what it was called, but some Dem head honchos got preferential voting rights over the nomination until now, and I think it's been done away with. So the process could be more from the bottom up.

It has been done away with because Donna Brazile was fuming about it a couple of months back. The terrible Democrats have a much stronger hold on their party than the Labour right held over theirs but it has weakened somewhat since the extent to which the 2016 vote was rigged before it began was revealed.
