That ankle better be getting a good rub every night.

Win this and he goes 3,535 points ahead, even before Djokovic's points from Indian Wells and Miami come off in March.

Querrey is a v v dangerous opponent, as we saw with Novak last summer.  But he's through in the doubles so has been on court longer than Sir Andy, which is good.

Will there be a better time for Andy to add the Aussie open to his ever growing trophy cabinet ?

Stating the obvious there m9.

This time last year even when he had got to the final i think his odds were near 4/1 because Novak was that good at the Australian and looking so unstoppable, so while his haters are going to make it abundantly clear that he never beat Novak at his best before winning it it will still be great if he does it. Heavily fancy Andy to win if he keeps himself grounded but an on form Stan could definitely beat him as could Raonic.

Still a long way to go with Fed/Berdych/Nishikori and Stan still in his half. Would fancy him against anyone at the moment though. If he was to meet Stan in the semis, the only worry I'd have is that if the Stan from his grand slam finals turns up then it might not matter how Murray plays.

Murray has schooled Stan in their last two meetings, but the fact remains you just never know with him. Kind of hope they meet, tbh. You want Murray to have a challenge. With Murray being world number one, it would be nice to see him pick up more wins against Novak, but obviously they can't meet until finals.

Also just realised that Istomin looks like the boy from Linkin Park.

Hard not to get excited for Murray but still a lot of dangerous opponents on the horizon.

I still never fully relax in these majors until Nadal and Federer are out.

It's a redlining Wawrinka I'm worried about.

Peak Wawrinka is the best player on the tour, his problem is consistency. He certainly raises his level for grand slams (he's shockingly bad at Masters level for a guy of his talent) but maintaining that level over 2 weeks is not easy. He's helped hugely by the fact that his path to the semis is pretty relaxed, he doesn't need to be at his best but he tends to throw in the odd shocker where anyone can beat him.

Highlights for anyone who was sleeping at a normal time last night. The most impressive part of the win was that Novak actually played really well at times. Big D will no doubt get squashed in straights in the next round but he'll be remembered for a long time after that performance.

Peak Murray nullifies Wawrinka and wins most of the time. The best Murray is better than the best Wawrinka imo.
