Well no, we've been relegated since about Mid-November, genuinely no idea why St Mirren fans constantly think I'm not aware of that.

Edit: I see your second reply and I have reservations about Ross returning, as well. He would be the best candidate in terms of experience and knowledge of the club, but I wouldn't be massively happy. * - obviously in context he'll seem a better option than the diddy he replaced. You do remember the absolute shambles Oran took over from don't you ? It was a near miracle he managed to keep us up that season, penalties or otherwise. He wouldn't consider it anyway after the shoddy way he was treated by our ex chairman.

There's no doubting we were a basket case when he was appointed, but it was about as close to relegation as you can get without going down. While I suppose that should be considered a success, I feel a more experienced manager wouldn't have cut it so close. There is also the point that after Stubbs, Kearney actually came across a nice person.

Would just like things to progress very quickly. We have 2 games coming up which with wins would put as very close to top 6. We don't need this right now. We’re top 6 now. Win against Livi and Dundee and we are in 4th. Good position to be in if we’re looking for a manager
djchapsticks
Goodwin backed right in to 1/3 in some bookies.

houston_bud
This might come back to bite me on the arse but I also reckon he'll stay. The early front runner in the press/at the bookied doesn't often get it. I also think Aberdeen will want a bigger name. Most Aberdeen fans I've spoken to (admittedly about 3) don't want Goodwin. Mental that they expect a big name, but here we are.

I am aware money talks but for the first time in 30 years we genuinely have a good team capable of competing in the top half of the premier league . We have a good team and is it too much to ask that we have a good season that leads us to becoming a strong mid table side capable of top half finishes ? I know resources dictate but can we build on this or is it possible that it might just be a fleeting thing . I hope Jim doesn’t leave not now with the season heading towards the last couple of months . I wonder if he thinks about loyalty or if it’s purely cash If I was offered 2 or 3 times my salary elsewhere, I would be off. That's not being disloyal, but almost everyone would do the same. 21 hours ago, elvis said: Another Jack Ross says one thing and does.another I'm happy here but fucks off at first opportunity. See my response to @Norrie82 above. Are you seriously telling me that you wouldn't leave your current employer for 2 or 3 times your wage? Really? I don't think anybody can accuse Jim of being disloyal, here. If he earns the club £250k, then he's done plugged a financial gap, if rumours are true, too. We can't stand in the guy's way.

Coventry Saint
Happy to admit I'll be gutted if he goes. Also happy to acknowledge that I was absolutely infuriated with the way he set the team out for basically all of 2021, Parkhead aside. The fact is, Goodwin is flawed as a manager, as he was as a player, but I fucking love him, he absolutely gets St Mirren, and on balance he's doing a good job. I just really hoped he'd at least see this season out. I think the squad we have could get fourth place in this season's very mediocre league, and what an achievement that would be.
