Livithegreat
Nice to see Jack Ross's team start to kick us off the park at times last night. Dale Carrick ended up going off injured. We rode our luck at times, but times going by we would have lost a game like this 2-1 so good progress is being made What was the segregationlike like last night. It was a farce. Buddist Monk
Never made the Livi game, disappointed with the score but in no way surprised. I am no boo boy, and my comments regarding the Stranraer game were roundly derided by several St Mirren fans. One would presume they never watched that game, but I felt we were nowhere good enough and if a more talented team had played us we'd have struggled. Livi was that talented team and as much as I would have liked a different scoreline it comes as no surprise at all. It's far from doom and gloom, personally if we flirt with the playoffs this season that I think would be good progress from last season. Davis coming in will of course help as he looked a class apart last season (for the few games he played) but I am nowhere near sold on Buchanan and worry that Irvine was too easily beaten on Saturday. As for this group? It's totally possible, in true St Mirren style, to hammer Partick then lose weakly to Airdrie and not progress due to goal difference. We were garbage from start to finish, absolutely zero creativity and far to many players didn't turn up. We still require another couple of players even allowing for Harry Davis returning. Not anywhere near good enough. Well imagine that, just days after posting this in response to my comments... Its hard to believe that we actually won 4-1 away and this is the kind of response to our first competitive outing.

LIVIFOREVER
Tbf to St Mirren, they closed us down well and didn't allow us to play our normal passing game, so it got very scrappy from us, and we just decided to sit in and try to hit them on the counter. We almost got a 2nd goal on 2 occasions just after we scored but it was mostly getting back into our own half and then battling them for the ball. A lot of their balls into our box was meat and potatoes for our 3 CB's, high balls from a diagonal, and the ones where they hit the bye line were whipped across that fast no St Mirren player got near to it. It was a far tougher game than the Partick Thistle one, will be interesting to see how you both get on this Saturday, they are very clinical when you give them a chance on goal but St Mirren look far more lively. That foul for the second yellow was well inside the box and would've been a penalty except between them the ref and linesman had absolutely no idea. Agree - should have been a penalty. Still not sure why Barron got shown two yellows when the first offence was clearly committed by Hamill!

Mattmc
Belford got what he deserved. He's given the ref an opportunity to send help m off every game against Airdrie. Good shot stopper but a liability. Spends half his time trying to entertain opposition supporters. Worry about concentrating on your game and getting a result for your own supporters. Pity you can't sit and have a beer at the football though, that also feels strange at the rugby, you feel like you're doing something wrong walking past a plod carrying a pint into the ground. Been fecking conditioned for that long going to football matches not being allowed a pint inside a ground.

What do you disagree with there? If you read the quote he says we need to be stronger in our own box. For the goal Buchanan got pushed around by your forward, who is much shorter. He is 100% correct, we were pushed off the ball so easily on Tuesday night everyone could see that.

The fact that Ross seems to be unable to admit that Livi got their tactics right. Seems to just focus on St Mirren apparently throwing away the game as if they had a divine right to turn up and win? Mullen may be fairly small but he was doing the same v Partick and Sunderland at times too

He's the St Mirren manager so of course he's going to focus on them and not doing the things he hoped they would.
