For a while now, I have harboured a pet theory that Snifter and Pet Jeden were actually separated-at-birth twins who were brought up at opposite ends of the city for foster parent or hospital mixup reasons...

This is still a more plausible theory than the Lennon/Dempster/Rodgers/Butcher/Baker/Candlestick maker theory that Snifter is throwing about.

They also share dreadful names.

Snifter Pee Rot

Ah, those 13 seemingly unrelated letters, lined up as crookedly as a Lochend whore's teeth. Except they're not random, are they Snifter? They form several enticing anagrams, not least tripe softener, not ferret pies, or - my personal favourite - tries feet porn.

Pet Jeden

The eagle-eyed among you will have spotted the connection to the 1960 Czechoslovakian classic, Pet a Jeden, directed by the illustrious-yet-elusive director Miloš Musil, from which old PJ may have taken his moniker.

Of course, it could be that our friend was under the assumption that he had created a humorous quip by placing the Czech words for 'five' and 'one' beside each other. But what he has failed to realise is that placing 'pet' and 'jeden' together in Czech makes no sense whatsoever.

All that's left is clarification on the pronunciation. Does one prefer pet-yehdin, or pet-jehdin? Personally, I prefer 'fanny'.

Wouldn’t that be Pět as opposed to Pet

Pet is a Catalan word for fart so it’s related to “Trump”

This bit in the EEN article today suggests that Wright is being signed to play right wing-back, with Boyle playing more up front (assuming he isn't sold).

Yet the club is not hanging about when it comes to bolstering the playing ranks. Drey Wright is expected to make the switch from St Johnstone imminently; brought in to patrol the right flank and free up Martin Boyle for a more advanced attacking role, alongside Christian Doidge, and while delaying would save the club money, time is of the essence, insists Dempster. "We are now just five weeks away from games so we are in the market at the minute. It is difficult just now because transfer windows are not really open yet and we don’t know when they are formally going to close."

Right flank sounds like RM/RW to me.

Depending on your transfer window, Hibs are the team I'd fear the most in the chase for 3rd this season, IMO.

 It's Friday.

Nah I think you have the makings of a good side. Plenty Pace, a natural goalscorer, creativity from midfield. If you could sort yourselves out defensively then you'll be a force.

If you lost Boyle and didn't sign well defensively then I might change my stance.

ETA you would have been in the mix last season had you not given everyone else a 2 month head start.

Fair points............however we can be staggeringly awful in defence and definitely dont have the cover in major positions that you guys do those might be addressed in normal times but now?

For that reason I cant see us challenging for third tbh.

Surprisingly, this checks out. Whipping out the spreadsheets shows that Hibs' form for October onwards was the third best (And Hearts are still going doon). I think there would have been similar results for the previous couple of seasons too.

We used to have the reputation (pre relegation) of fastish starters and shitting the bed after New Year.
