More entitled pish. This is the Twitter generation.

Coming disappointingly close to slavering on about the 'woke generation' here.

I know I'm not, I'm just saying that until I see some then that's the opinion I'll have based on what I've seen.

You can only judge a character based on what evidence you get, and all I've seen is him say the "sorry you got offended" apology then ignore the victims, so I'll judge him based on that.

You're clearly on a "woke culture" track here though, so yet again I'll just leave you to it.

I'm not on a "woke culture" track, and that's just a cheap attempt to discredit a view.

The point is about you, and a lot of the Twitter generation's, view that this is in some way about you, and that you are due access to the contrition for a private matter relating to someone you don't know.

It's possible to simultaneously think that what he did was very bad but also that I'm not entitled to any knowledge of the fall-out from it.

It's got nothing to do with me.

Nobody owes you anything, its upto you to educate yourself on the facts

Nonsense. See above.

Yeah, I don't agree - I think @RandomGuy. is right. When you start with 'entitled pish' and 'twitter generation', it's just a step to 'cancel culture' and 'see all they wokes', imo.

And I am definitely not the twitter generation.

I think it's worth considering you will always find players that think a manager is a horrible person. Was Alex Ferguson nice? Jim MacLean? Craig Levein?

Yet a 'sporting director' is a completely different job. You can be nicer. Certainly don't need to be as ruthless, you don't need too stand up to often idiot players who question every move of your judgement. Like Adams with Sean Higgins who he actually punched. heard that too was well deserved at the time.

Malky said some bad racist shit.

He's also not a great manager (based on his recent record at County) and seems a divisive figurehead to have on board.

Still, if he does alright, then the 'boycotters' will roll with it.

Thank you.

No. You're taking two separate things together and they don't go together.

If I was attacking this in the way RG is implying, I'd be in some way defending Malky's actions or minimising what he did.

I'm not doing that and it's lazy and offensive pish to suggest I am.

I'm pointing out that RG's apology point is the problem. There's a view now that we are all entitled to be party to apologies for private matters. It's complete nonsense, and it has definitely snowballed with the development of Twitter and the pile-ons that develop there. There is no question about this.

We're not entitled to an inside view of a private matter.

You're not due any proof.

So if he's not due any proof, then is Malky Mackay "due" anything?  Why should he get a pass?  Surely people can choose who they want to associate with?

Yes. What's your point?

I don't believe Malky is asking for a pass from me or you.

Just so it’s clear.

The guy running building the team is not the same as a couple of players.

For example, I work at a financial services company, if someone had a criminal past and joined my area and worked with me, even as a contractor where they’re on astonishing wages at times I wouldn’t care.

However if we hired a new head of department who was a proven racist bigot, I would tender my resignation.

You’re clearly far too thick to understand that mind you.

👍

Mackay wasn't even a daft wee laddie when he made these comments. He was a 40 yo man and had worked/ was working with people of many different backgrounds. AFAIK, he didn't even acknowledge his behaviour. Many of us would be instantly sacked from our jobs if we were guilty of spouting bile like he did. Sad that in Scottish football, dinosaurs like Mackay seem to fail upwards. Was the same when Hearts appointed Rix. Just. Don't. Do. It. FFS!.

The racism and homophobia aside, what's good about Mackay? I can't see any achievements in there? Underwhelming at the very least.

Away and shite defending Adams punching Higgins.

Fucking embarrassing you're so hellbent on defending a man who was indisputably a terrible County manager and to do so you'll happily throw other County fans under the bus. Shitebag behaviour.

So if Hibs fans say they don't feel he is a suitable person to run their club, who are you to argue or criticise them?  If they want to see proof that he has apologised to those affected, then who are you to disagree with that?

Secondly, I disagree.  By effectively taking on the running of a football club (the sporting side), then he implicitly is asking for a pass from the fans of that football club.

Yesterday was a great laugh, and it is funny to see Hibs fans squirming over this, but this is broadly how I feel about it.

The texts that we saw are completely not on, but I don't know the guy, don't really know anything about the background of it, and it all feels terribly Twitter-style self-righteous for me to basically be part of a gang trying to hound the guy out of employment in fitba forever.

It's got nothing to do with me. It's between him and the people involved. I find this whole requirement for a global apology to the whole world to be a very unsavoury element of modern culture.

This will remain very funny, however.

How did you feel when Hearts appointed Rix??

I'm not saying Hibs fans have no right to criticise or disagree with his appointment. That's a personal matter for each of them.

This is like yesterday all over again. I'd like it if people would read posts before criticising them.

I disagree with your final point. He's not asking for a pass from Hibs fans. He's working for the club. The club and him have agreed that, the fans are free to respond how they see fit.

If a board of directors thought hiring Hitler as sporting director and Bin Laden as manager would get them 3pts on a Saturday and a league title at the end of the season then they would hire them.

And every fan of that club would celebrate (all clubs/fans)

So it’s purely because of the position he’s been appointed in? And you’d be fine with us signing Goodwillie as he’s only a player?

Carry on with your attention seeking champ.  Please let us know if the club responds to your next email 👍🏼

100%

It would have been excusable if he’d been a daft laddie and came out and shown remorse for it but he’s done neither.

He’s attended a tick box training course and never once held his hands up and apologised.
