Romeo
Roundly booed on his debut at Dundee and that theme carried on to the majority of away grounds. I thing people forget the abuse he got (and had to retire) when he played for NI. There was only one reason for that.

Romeo
I refuse to hear a bad word said against Dundee. their unique method of voting has provided no end of hilarity and a mass decapitation down Gorgie Road.

Guest
Pardon? The only time a player ever gets boo'd in football is due to their religion, obviously.

Shay Logan is roundly booed anytime we play Celtic. He doesn't receive this against any other team. Why do you think this is?

AJF
After being given a plethora of reasons as to why Neil Lennon is a very unlikeable person, to suggest anyone that doesn’t like him harbours a sectarian grudge against him is mental.

Great post mate. What kind of abuse did he receive though? I’d take your point if he received sectarian abuse, but what was it that you keep referring to?
Guest
Wouldn't surprise me if Lennon did receive sectarian abuse 20+ years ago but Scottish football has come a long way (minus the cheeks) in terms of bigotry.

You've also got to factor in that Lennon made his Celtic debut in 2000. You'd hope that if it was the case that he was abused as a result of his religious faith 20 years ago, that social attitudes, in the main, have progressed to the point where sectarianism is unacceptable at the the football & in wider society in general. Of course, there will always be the neanderthals who are still the exception to this rule.

That may well be the case, but my question would be this: Presumably Celtic have had countless Catholic players represent them over the years. Why would Lennon be targeted specifically with sectarian abuse where others weren’t?
