Football phrases and their real meanings

A bit of fun (well it is for me). We all hear and read things related to football, but I reckon it's a lot of cliched claptrap :) So here we go -

After a friendly- "Good game against a strong/good....... team" - Actually means, we only took the game because we knew we would beat you and are now patronising you.

"We go again" - Classic football cliche, which means we were crap in the last game and are now trying to appease the fans.

After a friendly - "All the best to ......for the season" - Actually means, we really couldn't care about your season, but are again patronising you.

Feel free to add any more if you wish.

"Rangers/Celtic Nil" : a totally biased sectarian referee denied the Teddy Bears/Hoops a stonewall penalty in the last minute.

Smash & grab. Phrase used to describe any home defeat around the Ainslie Park area.

But for away defeats it's 'win ugly' hoofs out the park

The "glorified boys' club" phrase needs to get a mention in here? Heard from either a losing opponent, or Highland League/SPFL fan.

Look out for a few coming Hawick RA's way, with the youngest gaffer in football struggling early doors.

Bit of tangent but their respective local press bill both the Hawick and Burntisland managers as "the youngest in Scottish football". Both seem to be 23.

Anyone know who's youngest?

When yer watching highlights on tv the amount of times the guys in the studio summerising the match say "again" showing clips when we clearly seen it the 1st time and get their actual point does my heed in....
