lichtie23
After 215 days the NFL season is back with the Defending Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots hosting the Kansas City Chiefs at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts. The Patriots staged a remarkable comeback to rally from 28-3 down to beat the Atlanta Falcons 34-28 in Super Bowl LI and win their 5th World Championship, all under future Hall of Famers Head Coach Bill Bellichick and QB Tom Brady. The Patriots will be without WR Julian Edelman who tore his ACL in pre season but do have new weapon Brandon Cooks who has spent the last 3 years with the New Orleans Saints. The Patriots also added RB Mike Gillislee to replace the departed LaGarrette Blount and Defensive back Stephon Gilmore previously of Division rivals Buffalo Bills. The Chiefs traded up in the 1st round to select Texas Tech QB Patrick Mahomes in this year's College draft but will start Former overall number 1 pick (2005 draft) Alex Smith at QB. The Chiefs went 12-4 before losing in the Divisional round of the playoffs to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Andy Reid is in his 5th year as Head Coach and previously took the Philadelphia Eagles to a Super Bowl before losing to the Patriots 24-21 in Super Bowl 39. The Chiefs lost Nose Tackle Dontari Poe in Free Agency and have replaced him with former Philadelphia Eagle Bennie Logan. Big play threats RB Jamaal Charles and WR Jeremy Maclin have both departed over the summer. 3rd round RB Kareem Hunt out of Toledo could see a lot of action in his 1st career game as a professional. The new season kicks off at 1.30 am on the morning of September 8th and is live on Sky Sports Main Event (401) and Sky Sports Arena (408)

invergowrie arab
I'll be staying up as I need to leave house at 4 am anyway. This at least means I should have some adrenalin that will stop me falling asleep at wheel on an airport run.

lichtie23
Fancy a Chiefs upset here or at least a tight game, Brady will really miss Edelman. I think the Pats will win but I don't think they will cover the 8.5 point spread. A close 3 point win
