I'll take it if we manage to hold our playoff spot tbh
UpInTheAyr
Rather Ecrepont get a loan spell in league 1 or 2 for half a season before he starts featuring regularly.
Hursty
I'd keep Muirhead tbh. He is a bit of a bombscare but isn't THAT bad - others may watch other teams in the league more than I do but other than the Inverness home game I've not seen any defence where the centre halves looked any better than average. If we let him go the chances are we replace him with someone very similar. Obviously fans of their teams might jump in and tell me I'm talking shite, but I haven't seen anyone from Arbroath (O Brien abuse incoming) Alloa, Partick, Morton, QoS, Dundee or Dunfermline that I'd immediately say was a massive upgrade. Their defenders all seem to make a hell of a lot of mistakes as well.

I would agree that central defenders in this league are poor. It's one of the reasons that O'Brien and Graham are two of the better ones despite being part time.
rb123!
See McCall appears to be irked by the spikey reception he got on his return to Somerset, don't know what else he was expecting when he jumped ship 6 weeks into the season. If he'd left after the Inverness game at the end of last season which in hindsight he should of then i think everybody would still be fine with him. At the end of the month he's deffo doing a GIRFUY infront of us is Thistle get a result against us.

Ecrepont straight in as lb, hopefully get Houston signed up or maybe the youngster back on loan as rb. Like I said, it's the centre half and centre mid areas that are most worrying. McCowan, mcguffie, McKenzie, moff and Moore is a shit-load of attacking M's. I would expect McGuffie to be released in the Summer. Lots of ability, but has never at any stage looked like becoming a first team regular. Ecrepont still seems a bit young to be a regular starter at left back, though I would concede I haven’t seen him play and he does seem highly rated by the club. We can hopefully see a bit more of McKenzie in the second half of the season as I don’t think he’s had enough game time for anyone to make a real assessment of how good he might be.

We might be in no position to make those calls. They might need to be given a run in the first team. I've always felt mcguffie deserved at least three starts in a row. (And remember how quickly McCowan became a mainstay in our team)

(And remember how quickly McCowan became a mainstay in our team) As a club we haven't managed McGuffie well, he needs games but not as this level. Last season we loaned him to Raith and he didn't get games. We should have loaned him to Stranraer or another League One team where he would get game time. We should have stipulated it in fact. Comparisons to McCowan dont help either. McCowan has surpassed McGuffie and he didn't break into the team until a couple of seasons after McGuffie. Retaining McGuffie is a big question mark for me tbh.
itzdrk
I would keep Guff, he's barely played a part but has still managed a big contribution in winning two games this season (Morton X2).
diegomarahenry
If McCowan or Forrest are out, McGuffie can play and we don't have to change the shape of the team like we did when McCowan was suspended and we played Moore and Moffat.
Chief1
https://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/interview-ian-mccall-on-curing-his-gambling-addiction-fearing-lawrence-shankland-and-socialising-with-steven-gerrard-1-5073513 Interview with McCall, where he says he is looking at another couple of our players. Not surprising and if its Harvie and Forrest you would think they would have options in the top league.
eez-eh
I know it’s fairly common knowledge that he’s tapping up half the squad but it takes some brass neck to publicly declare it. Edited January 12, 2020 by eez-eh
UpInTheAyr
He mentions the reception he got on his return to Somerset and I think it really pissed him off more than he admits. He will be absolutely relishing the chance to do us over end of the month.

Completely normal, and it would be weird if he wasn't desperate for a 'get it up ye' moment.

No, but it's something Kerr will need to be aware of as a motivated McCall can be quite a dangerous thing. And I'd really love us to do them over again as much as he would us. callum-ayr
McCall genuinely thought fucking off to a relegation fodder 1/4 of the way into a new season and immediately saying he’d tap up members of our squad wouldn’t see a backlash on him. He’s absolutely deluded.

D'Jaffo
McCall genuinely thought fucking off to a relegation fodder 1/4 of the way into a new season and immediately saying he’d tap up members of our squad wouldn’t see a backlash on him. He’s absolutely deluded. I think we’ve now finally come to the stage where there’s no love lost between McCall and the fans. They made it perfectly clear up at Arbroath and then when Thistle came to Ayr how they feel about McCall. It means that his charade of how difficult a decision it was to leave Ayr can be binned and everyone can move on. I can’t really say I miss having him at Ayr tbh.
