We were playing Calvin Miller at one point when McCowan was hiding in plain sight.

Crawford was played out of position and made a huge scapegoat. McGuffie was talked up as the next big thing constantly which led to our expectations being unnecessarily high and he obviously never fulfilled them. And let’s get it right, McCowan forced his way in and McCall had no choice but to play him due to injuries. Forrest was established but in an extremely bad squad that needed rebuilding. Roberts left out Crawford for his best mate in McLaughlin and brought him back in. McGuffie was an average at best player who found his level when McCall got rid of him. You're also forgetting the development of Harive and Rose who have become established players at a higher level. Much more than this fool we've got at the minute.

You can’t give him credit for developing players when he was never at training. You can praise him all you like but it is made up rubbish that Ian McCall developed players from the club.

He just saunters about trying nice passes that rarely come off. Major Gary Harkins vibes about him. Possibly he's been given a Chalmers type do what you want by Bullen
AyrAtlanta
For a team that has won absolutely f**k all in 113 years our fans don’t half love living in the past. From shite like ‘remember where we were last season’ to wanting McCall to return. Gees peace.

Hursty
How fucking small minded are we to be talking up Ian McCall, who is out of a job after being deservedly sacked before his replacement Kris Doolan (who at the time was coaching 7 year old kids at Queen Margaret among other places) has came in and turned them in to a cracking team who have just absolutely destroyed us twice? Jeez. Edited May 26, 2023 by Hursty

Jeez. It’s lamentable that McCall had that Thistle side and couldn’t get them going like they are now. A genuinely good side who will most likely win the playoffs but should’ve been more than capable of winning the whole league.

Not sure his development of either was always that positive. At one point McCall was playing a CB in McCrorie at RM over Forrest in L1 and then the following season he had him playing lone striker in the Championship. McCowan had a couple of cameos off the bench but was quite late by the usual standards breaking through and essentially forced McCall's hand with his performance in the Partick away game.

ryanayr1987
Bullen needs to go that was horrific! Team selection off , tactics off and substitutes wrong. I really don’t see a way back from that for him. But it’s not just these two games for me, we have been like that since December and only sneaked second because no one else grabbed it. bullen is out his depth. McCall is not the answer. I don’t know who is though, think I’d like John Kennedy type coach looking to make the move to management Edited May 26, 2023 by ryanayr1987
