For the sake of inclusion/diversity/being a community club we need at least one ginger-haired player.

Wigs are cheap nowadays 👍

Wouldn’t imagine so given his wife is Scottish and he’s lived here previously

Thats not any help for work visas

You can't just marry someone and work in their country of citizenship

If Fred is fit there is no way he would come to this level as backup, he would be a starter and probably your highest earner. He could probably still get a game for teams in the bottom half of the Premiership.

What a player he is, he’s right up there with the best midfielders I’ve seen at Morton - his partnership with Tidser was the best in the league for a while.

I'll add Stevie Bryce that Burley signed and potentially Steve Bowey as I'm sure he was hiding it with peroxide 🤣

SLO Update

Hi everyone,

We initially said we’d give a monthly update but things have been quite busy so we’re going to give weekly updates when we can. This is a long one so bear with us!

1) Most importantly, there’s been quite a bit of momentum gathering online for the donation of U13’s season tickets to local good causes which really shows what the Ayr United community is all about. The club want to continue that momentum and have asked us to help out – we’re delighted to launch the below Go Fund Me page;

https://www.gofundme.com/f/under-13s-season-tickets-at-ayr-united

An U13’s season ticket costs £40 but donations of any value will be gratefully received.

The natural issue arises when gifting a ticket to a local child who’s parent or guardian may not be able to afford to buy a ticket in order to take their child along and to that end the club have kindly committed to providing a full adults season ticket for every four U13’s season ticket donated which we think is extremely generous. In essence, they’re providing a £300 product for every £160 donated! In addition, the club do already donate circa 200 tickets to every home match.

I’m sure we can all agree the tickets will go to good causes locally whilst we foster the future Ayr United Support so please donate if you can! We do understand we’ll shortly be 3 home games into the season but that still leaves 15 games at a cost of roughly £2.50 per game!

2) Date for the diary – first ever quarterly fans discussion will be held in Cameron’s Tue 24th Sept 7-9pm – tickets available below! If demand dictates, we can switch to the Ally MacLeod Suite. It’s very much our aim to have a relaxed/informal night.

https://maineventtickets.store/event/slo-q-a-meeting

The indicative format so far will be a quick into/update from us, MD Graeme Mathie has kindly agreed to attend so we’ll have an update/Q&A with him before the player fund are going to provide an update (they’ll also have a table on the night for anyone wishing to sign up). We want to invite a different department from the club to speak each quarter, first up we’ll have Martin Tocker talking all things commercial. We’re also working on another guest or two!

They’ll be suggestion cards on each table, the club are going to put on ‘half time’ pies when we’ll come round the tables to gather the suggestions.

Hopefully see lots of you there!

3) Supporters Buses – we absolutely agree it’s a real shame there are no supporters buses running to away games this season. There’s plenty of young and old fans who don’t drive whilst the cost of trains is ever increasing. We’re in provisional talks with a local pub with the view to running supporters buses and will provide an update in due course, this is unlikely to be before the Dunfermline game.

4) Crowd trouble – most will be aware of the pocket of trouble outside the ground after the Hamilton game which we’ve received quite a few concerns on. We’ve engaged with the club extensively on that this week and can reassure fellow fans there is a huge amount of planning and processes behind the scenes to keep everyone safe. The police tell the club which games they will attend which the club then have to pay for. If the police wish to attend a game, they now insist on a minimum of 14 officers in addition to 2 sergeants and an inspector which come at an astronomical cost to the club. The club would naturally try and avoid that where possible!

Let’s try and avoid trouble at games, continue the good reputation of the club and keep the attention of the police away.

Anyway, lets try and break that 3,000 barrier tomorrow and hope for another 3 points. Mon Ayr!

This is my recollection of him, a fantastic player.

Whether he can still play bottom half premiership I don’t know, but given his team have still been involved in a Europe to some extent there is a decent chance he could.

Some brilliant stuff in there, excellent start!

At some point you have to wonder when the Police might stop taking the piss out of the local communities they are meant to serve.
