NotThePars
Are you suggesting they are one and the same ? Banana isn't bitter enough, he ticks the thick box pretty well but is nowhere near as bitter Oaksoft. I am not.

scottsdad
Deep in to my fourth batch of homebrew. I have consumed more units in the last month, at a much cheaper price, than I would have previously. My Summer Berries wine was amazing.

Baxter Parp
https://www.sundaypost.com/fp/cider-sales-slump-since-cheap-drink-ban/ Cider sales have slumped since introduction of minimum unit pricing for alcohol It's almost as if the law is having the effect that it was intended to or something.

The sugar tax has though. Can't drink any of that "new recipe" shite. Coca Cola get's half of it's revenue in Scotland from me alone.
NotThePars
Stuff like Coca-Cola has been ruined far worse by corn cyrup than the sugar tax IMO. My cousin brought a couple of the cans made with cane sugar and it was far better. Quenches your thirst and is that little bit sweeter.
O'Kelly Isley III
I feel really sorry for anyone whose life revolves around any sort of drink, but maybe having my serious drinking days long behind me has provided some perspective.

Must have acquired money from somewhere.
LeeVanTeeth
My neighbour still drinks on a daily basis and constantly complains about the price but does now go to the local food bank so he can afford it. Swings and roundabouts.

Wee Bully
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-48675313Looks like minimum pricing is actually working! Well done to the SNP government for actually doing something about the issue rather than just hand wringing

A huge reduction in the quantities of Frosty Jack being consumed can only have a positive effect on the health of the country. Well done SNP.
mizfit
I wouldn’t say it’s reduced my alcohol consumption, but it’s helped who it was meant to help.
doulikefish
Cant believe there hasnt been a spike in drink related deaths from all those folk that were going to day trip to fill up on cheap booze.
The Master
Something I noticed the other day at Asda - they were selling 500ml bottles of 6.5% ale for £1.50.

That is about right, 500 * 0.065 = 32.5ml = just a shade over 3 units The bottle is labelled as 3.3, which means it should be £1.65 minimum. I think, though, this is an example of the sort of thing that wasn't being targeted. Not only is it a marginal case, it's not exactly the "problem" alcohol that led to this being introduced.
