Heavy defeat for kilby today, shows how tough it is to climb the ladder!

About to get a lot tougher.

EK remain in LL, with Berwick now probably joining along with a parachute payment. Also bottom LL which is basically amateur level will go down with a good side coming up who will also become a challenger.

No parachute payment for the relegated team. Apparently that was a short term arrangement which has now expired.

Didn’t know that, cheers.

Berwick will still be a better team than the bottom of LL who get relegated though.

They'll still get the £49k "prize money" (last I saw) for finishing last in L2 will they not, as well as qualify for the league cup and get directly into round 2 of the Scottish?

Considering the LL prize money is zero and no one outside of the top 3 qualify for any higher level cups, the relegated team still had a huge advantage, financially, over LL teams.

Article 157.1 of the SPFL Articles of Association states that £40,000 will be paid to a relegated SPFL2 at the start of the first season outside the league, and £20,000 will be paid at the start of the second season. Article 157.2 states that second payment is not made if a club returns to the league after one season. Article 157.3 states these payments are made by SFA (which is one of the conditions SPL wangled when SFL merger went through: there was also a £1M "facilitation fee" which ended-up in a dispute).

It's interesting to note that, as of the start of this season, SFA might've had to shell-out upto £220k... but in practice has only required £60k.

I’m relaying on a few year old memories here but isn’t it technically payed by the spfl, with the condition it won’t be payed until the Sfa pay the spfl the amount due?
It is interesting to note that this gives the sfa no motivation to encourage automatic relegation.

Had a feeling Skip would call it a day after a tough season injury wise. Scott will still a great job for a couple of seasons for someone!

One of the big misses last season was not having big Dalziel in the starting eleven throughout the season. He never really got going after an early season injury. I always hoped that he would get a run of games under his belt but it never really happened for one reason or another. He definitely will do a great job wherever he goes though.

Heard Hamilton mate

Deserves it, every time I have seen him this year he has been a stand out.

Going to be even tougher next season now East Kilbride are staying in it. With Bonnyrigg and possibly Berwick joining it.

Exciting times ahead.

Unfortunately the SFA have declined Bonnyrigg's license application as they don't have floodlights in place. They plan to appeal. Hopefully the issue is resolved and Bonnyrigg are in the LL next season, if only for the sake of a proper pyramid.

Hopefully Bonnyrigg appeal it and the issue can be resolved. Would be a disaster if they don’t go up, especially after the season they have had.
