Yeah thats a bit of a kick in the teeth eh, is he actually now 3rd choice left back? I've not watched alot of arsenal games tbh so im not sure what he could be doing wrong.
Satoshi
The article is clear that its not based on his performance, but is rather a tactical decision. Not that it really matters too much anyway I don't think, there are few clubs in the world who wouldn't want Tierney as part of their squad. And I expect he will be getting a big pay rise were he to move given he's now an established elite left back. He's in a very strong position, and if Arsenal don't give him the game time he wants he'll move to another elite club, or someone like Newcastle on the way up. Who will probably double his wages in the meantime. It's not a big surprise he kept the same team who just secured an excellent result Vs Liverpool. Nah, I could buy he was kept out for a tactical reason vs Liverpool to stop salah cutting in. But against Leeds no chance, hes out of favour clearly for whatever reason. From what I've read on the arsenal forums they think its his lack of ability (comparatively) to play positive forward passes with the full backs now playing more inverted. Do I think he can force his way back in, yes because he's excellent. But the position hes in at the moment as possibly the 3rd choice left back is not good. And is hardly going to have the "elite" clubs queuing up for him.

I think the right footed point is a good shout, and probably has some merit. Hopefully your right, but I view Tierney as probably our best player. Its ok him rotating to keep himself fit, but for us and for him he needs to be considered the first choice left back. Wether thats with arsenal or not. 1 hour ago, BingMcCrosby said: Nah, I could buy he was kept out for a tactical reason vs Liverpool to stop salah cutting in. It's more likely the manager doesn't want to change a league side who just beat Liverpool. Makes sense to me, you have to re-earn your spot. There was plenty of rumours Man City wanted him as recently as last season (now have Gomez instead). He hasn't exactly played badly since then. His risk is his injury record but his ability, in a specialised rare position, is without doubt. He will have his pick of clubs were he to leave. Maybe not playing every week will help him overcome some chronic issues, which were historically caused by overplaying him. -
Ewan8472
I remember K.T. scoring a wonderful goal for Arsenal with his right foot. after coming in from the left
craigkillie
If anything I'd say being used in a bit more of a rotation is a good thing for his Scotland career, in terms of managing his very obvious injury issues. He's still playing a decent number of games for Arsenal - he's had 6 starts and 6 sub appearances this season - certainly enough to keep up his match fitness, and he'll probably end up playing at least 40 games for them this season. They're a very good team who have won 12 of their 13 matches in all competitions, so he's obviously going to find it a bit harder to break into the team as a regular while their form is like that.

Rotation is great for Tierney, but from the start of the season hes been playing 2nd fiddle to Zinchenko, and now he's injured hes still not in the team. Thats the concern. When Zinchenko is fit again where does that leave him? Having Tierney riding the bench isn't good for Scotland at all.
ManBearPig
Dropped for Tomiyasu again. Arteta doesn't seem to trust him in the league.

Pie Of The Month
Elyounoussi just tried to kill Tierney so can we get him back on the bench please? Not sure he should train with Odegaard either just to be safe. Edited October 23, 2022 by Pie Of The Month

Is Zinchenko a far better player than Tierney? Technically he is but I think l Tierney is a better defender. Also think Zinchenko will likely end up being played in midfield. Tierney will be a regular starter again before season is out imo. Mctominay will also see a lot of game time as well.
Number seven
Tierney is only decent rampaging forward like a runaway horse.Defensively he is not great either.Probably will end up back at Celtic. -
lubo_blaha
I’d rather he was starting more often but not playing every minute of every game for arsenal could be good for Tierney’s Scotland career. He clearly struggles to play multiple games in a row but if he’s starting say 50% of club games and keeping fit it could mean he’ll be available for Scotland more often.
