All jokes aside, that's an outstanding achievement. For only one person to have died is a pretty massive success, as horrendous as it will be for his family.

Still, if you're going to die young, it's best to go out as a genuine hero.

A good few of them are stateless and passport-less, so I doubt they'd be able to travel even if they were fit enough.

Some are Burmese born and others have parents who were. Thailand doesn't give automatic citizenship to those born in the country. A lot of people from around the golden triangle send their kids to northern Thailand because it offers a better education.
