I was thinking that myself. If they do the draw on the same basis as last time (one pot of seeds, then split by geography), then Scotland would get one big hitter (USA, Germany, France, England), one Asian or African team and one  from the Americas. Scotland would be in the pot of unseeded European teams (Spain, Italy, Norway) and wouldn't play them in the group.

New Zealand are more than likely to qualify, as there is one full place available from Oceania. Scotland beat them 2-0 twice in March.

True, but it's not like the guys who are (sometimes) picked from Scottish teams outside Celtic or Rangers are made of money. e.g. Shinnie, Souttar and O'Donnell in the present squad.

FIFA changed the men's World Cup draw procedure away from that in this year's tournament, and instead adopted the (IMO fairer) approach of having four seeded pots, but ensuring that that each group had no more than two European teams and no more than one team from any other confederation.

Women's football is still pretty undeveloped in places like Africa so this is a great opportunity to be the first Scotland team (age-grade excepted) to play a knock-out match.

In the FIFA rankings we're 21st, but we might be going up from that after the two wins. There are 11 UEFA members ahead of us, but of them Iceland are out, and only one of Netherlands, Switzerland and Denmark will be going. There are already 12 countries currently ranked higher than us who have qualified, so unless there's some major movement in the rankings, it looks like we're nailed-on to be a third seed.

What a save

(Peter) Schmeichel-esque

Maybe being harsh here but whilst it’s a good save, it looks like their striker takes an age to actually hit it. Should have slotted that away with ease.

Me and the missus looking forward to it. Had a terrific time at the Euros last year criss-crossing the Netherlands and everybody telling us “Amshterdam ish not Holland!” Don’t fancy criss-crossing France so much though. Staying in one corner is fine, don’t think France has any poor bits anyway.
