Club Licencing

Recommended Posts

This is definitely going to complicate Tom Johnston's narrative at the SJFA AGM tomorrow. No disrespect to Jeanfield Swifts, but if they can do something like this so can at least half of the WRSJFA.
Theres also Dunipace who whilst not licensed yet are taking steps in the right direction & see no reason why they shouldn't be within next twelve months. Last season Dunipace were in the bottom tier of the west juniors.

Theres clearly nae bad blood between the clubs as both are playing in a memorial pre-season tourney. Kudos to Whitehill though taking it on the chin

Has relegation officially been confirmed anywhere yet everyone just presuming the obvious ?

The best indication was the EOSFL tweet on 7 June

East of Scotland Football League @EastScotlandFA Jun 7
If you're wondering about the draw for the Alex Jack Cup, it's been delayed on account of what might reasonably be described as shenanigans - something to do with floodlights, licenses, and potentially illuminating (sorry ) news in the not too distant future. Watch this space.

This is all positive news.

Why o why can the SFA not at least mention all the new clubs somewhere on their website ?

Not even a press release since April

https://www.scottishfa.co.uk/scottish-fa/organisation/media/press-releases/

To be fair, it's a bit different from the previous two new members - Kelty and LTHV - where they did a press release and presentation at the clubs months after they got their licence. They're looking at nine(?) new members and were probably waiting until everything is confirmed to either do a combined release or an individual one for each club.

They do have News sections that cover their various activities

I'm sure they will get around to announcing something. It's a bit different this year with there being 8 new members. Maybe the Scottish Cup draw will have a special mention, but in the recent past there was the likes of:

https://www.scottishfa.co.uk/news/kelty-hearts-confirmed-as-the-89th-scottish-fa-member-club/?rid=13929

If I remember it correctly, we only found out LTHV were awarded a license when they were omitted from the Alex Jack Cup draw.

Top class from Whitehill! Even though they'd have liked to stay in the LL, at least they now can do planning for next season knowing what league they will be in. Uncertainty is the worst.

Fair play to the SFA too 🤭. Created a bit of excitement in these moves and everyone can now see how dynamic the new league system is.

Dunipace are working hard to get the updates to the ground in place in the next month or so. The club have pretty much everything in place/on order and awaiting delivery, with only a few little snags that should be straight forward enough to overcome. The committee, some local businesses, friends and sponsors of the club have all worked tirelessly to get the club to this point and hopefully over the line in terms of licencing shortly.

Years ago when I began arguing that having separate "grades" was insane, I used to use Bonnyrigg and Whitehill as examples of clubs who were close to one another, of similar standard, but who would never meet competitively.  Now they have passed each other like ships in the night in the new era.

Justice prevails in the end although a sorry debacle to have got there halfway into June. Credit to Bonnyrigg - and the other clubs for whom promotion wasn't but their Scottish Cup place was at stake - alongside the league for having fought on across a variety of theatres and methods, and for doing groundworks in rapid order.

Lets not forget Whitehill, who were put into a terrible position by this prolonged delay; nor forget Haddington, Tranent and St Andrews who weren't relieved.

Incidentally: supposedly the "associate member" stuff got further watered down and everyone will still be full members - except new full members won't have a vote at SFA AGM until they reach tier 5 - but unsure if that's legit.
